Today, Mete and I will try the most famous flavors of South Korea. We will especially try to show and explain Korean street food and Korean street delicacies to you.
Korean street food is food sold on the streets of South Korea, usually consumed as a quick snack. Korean street food offers delicious, varied, and sometimes spicy flavors. Here are some Korean street foods:
Tteokbokki: Tteokbokki is one of Korea's most famous street foods. It basically consists of rice cakes (tteok) coated with spicy chili paste sauce. Tteokbokki is often served with vegetables, kimchi, and sometimes seafood.
Hotteok: Hotteok is a sweet Korean street food. It is made by frying yeast dough filled with filling ingredients such as sugar, cinnamon and hazelnuts. It is delicious with a warm and sweet filling.
Kimbap: Kimbap is a type of wrapped sushi roll, similar to Japanese sushi but made with different ingredients. It may include thin rice, vegetables, kimchi, and sometimes meat or seafood. It is a street food usually preferred on beaches or picnics.
Odeng: Odeng is a type of street noodle soup containing vegetables and sausage or seafood served with different sauces. You can easily buy it from shops on the streets of Korea.
Japchae: Japchae is a street food prepared by mixing transparent potato starch noodles called camnoodles with vegetables, meat and sauce.
Twigim: Twigim is one of the Korean fried snacks. Mushrooms, vegetables or seafood are served coated in a light batter and fried. Twigim is a snack that street vendors often display.
Korean street food is quite diverse and can offer different flavors in different regions. These dishes are popular with locals and tourists alike and form an essential part of Korea's street food culture.
