Froch never shuts up about his CV and respect needs to be shown like he is the Last Emperor of China! It boring and he is kidding himself as he is NOT an Elite fighter. He is fought one Elite fighter in Ward and was chasing shadows throughout that fight. He does not posses a boxing repertoire to continally boast about himself. Credit to Eddie for massaging his ego but this has gone to epic proportions now. He is exciting to watch because he takes a punch to give a punch, but thats due to his limitations. Elite level is like Messi and Ronaldo then you have tons of options for who is third best. Ward and Mayweather in the current crop are the same, and could well be joined by GGG if he faces and beats Martinez which it seems he could do. Groves has sparred with Froch and Kessler so feels even though he hasn't the CV which is down to his age, that he can mix it at this level. Froch continually belittles him thinking that George doesn't even deserve to be in the same ring. Froch is one big ego, and pride comes before a fall so hope it is this Saturday!!

Cruyff1987 Point being, is making the chancers look mediocre everytime. Hence Messi/Ronaldo & Mayweather/Ward reference! Elite is the reserve for the very few not everyone who makes their name in the top ten of Boxrec!

Cruyff1987 Spin it back to you mate, who would beat Ward in the division cleaned up! GGG will! Mayweather, no point in explaining!
@LDN_BOX
@LDN_BOX 11 жыл бұрын
Cruyff1987 Mayweather is totally boring, no KO power. But, both him and Ward are the pinnacle of boxing. GGG soon coming and has the one punch KO factor which is exciting. Froch does not have a single shot KO power where as Groves does, so whats your point?? If having a chin is your best asset than Jimmy Hill would have been the best ever!
@LDN_BOX
@LDN_BOX 10 жыл бұрын
Cruyff1987 Did you not see the shot Groves did in the first round? I think Froch will retire, a Groves rematch maybe PPV but I personally don't think its worthy as you can see how the crowd turned on Froch at the end! Froch had a few PPV plans lined up if he looked amazing against Groves like GGG, Ward, Chavez Jnr but no one will really want to see those fights now and the first two he'll have no hope in. To be PPV you need to be either speculator & in your prime or draw huge numbers, and Froch won't tick either box now. Broner is a three weight world champion and his fight vs Maidana has been scrapped from PPV. I think he'll realise Groves will be better next fight and get him out much earlier if they fight again and retire with the belts. Then probably turn up on Celebrity Jungle and bore everyone to death talking about how great he was, elite level, and world titles.

ricky hatton fought some insane fighters, fighters in the top 10 best p4p in the world and is much loved by the british public so has froch at his weight division, ward is a monster, kesseler even fought calzghe, groves is a wannabe blackman with balding hair whos best win is a close fight with degayle whos having to rebuild his career to get a title shot (silver belt means shit, he might as well have the cardboard version of the belt) go watch his interviews before his last fight he has doubts hennesy can even make fights for him, groves best win is a nobody, groves might box froch for a bit but when froch catches him mid/late into the fight its game over.

Gorguruga, you're right. He claims to be confident that he could beat carl in many ways yet based on his media claims I would guess that he knows he needs the advantage of a wound up carl froch and a less likeable one who the judges are more likely to favour and the crowd more likely to back in order to have a chance. The same way he knew he needed all the advantages in order to beat degale and in the end it worked as he got a win when most thought he lost. I can't see it working this time though. I reckon froch will have a few rounds of fun before deciding to end it when he chooses.

I saw the figh and anyone who saw the fight would tell you the score cards were wildly inaccurate as bad the Canelo vs Mayweather score cards bad. Froch was punching thin air throughout the fight and getting countered. Ward bullied Froch, and made it look effortless. That was boxing mastery. When on the rare occasion Froch did land it had no impact, and came of worse in the exchange that followed. I stand by what I said, Froch has no chance of beating Ward if they fought again.

Double right hand?? Where did Carl get that from? "All" Groves said, he'll meet him in the centre, beat him to the jab and hit with two right hands (only two) in the round. Just to let Carl know he can. Can't read too much into that really, I'd expect George to get the better of the early exchanges.

People keep saying Groves hasnt been disrespectful to froch, but i dont think those people have been watching the interviews properly. His attitude was frochs over rated, then it increased to ill toy with froch, then it got stupid where he's acting like an annoying teen around him. End of the day Frochs 4 time world champion and the only person to beat him properly is ward (other than kessler who he then beat). Froch scrapped a win against degale and then fought a shot johnson and a couple of club fighters. They are leagues apart this will be a carbon copy of the Bute fight. Froch in 6. Sorry groves im still a fan of yours too.

Groves hasn't been disrespectful at all ,I have seen a lot worse in a primary school playground,if Froch is that sensitive he is in the wrong career.I think he should take a look at himself and some of the comments he has made to fighters like Calzaghe and more recently Cleverly(who only said that it would be a good fight between himself and Froch before he lost to Kolelov)where he said he is irreverent and holds a little(I could run through a whole list of WBO Champions who were better fighters pound 4 pound than Froch) regarded belt.The real reason Froch has got his back up is that he is going up against a fellow Englishman and is of the belief that how dare anyone in Britain challenge him.Does he seriously think Groves should approach him cap in hand saying "wow thank you pound 4 pound great for giving me the opportunity to share 36 minutes of your time but please go easy" ? of course not.The way Froch has been talking about his last 10 opponents non stop you would think he is the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson.I was actually starting to like Froch over the last 2/3 years once his ego had settled down after he realised Calzaghe wasn't going to make a comeback but now it has reared it's ugly head again,Sorry Carl but your losing a fan :(

What has groves done that froch finds disrespectful? To be honest the build up to this fight has been cheesy and cringeworthy. I've skipped every build up show and sky sports news updates it's just embarrassing some of the things two grown men say. Froch is just crap at trash talking and groves can't hype a fight for toffee.

It's funny how groves says that froch is insecure yet he comes across very desperate in every media event, trying to wind up froch as he knows in order to beat him he has to have every advantage he can get. He should want to fight the best carl froch to prove he can if he truly believes it, not a wound up froch who's lost his head.
@Gorguruga
@Gorguruga 11 жыл бұрын
He did exactly the same thing to Degale in a way, it's just Degale is a younger man so it wound him up more and the media made it appear as if Degale was the bad guy when Groves was sort of mocking him in the same way as he is Froch. However, one thing I remember is that before the Groves fight was announced, Froch said quite mockingly on a Sky Sports interview that he forgot who he was, forgot the name for a moment, when the interviewer questioned him about a potential fight vs Groves down the line. So Froch isn't totally blameless as such, he did sort of disrespect Groves before the fight was even close to being seriously considered. Having said that, I thought Degale beat Groves anyway, it should really be Degale vs Froch - Groves is lucky to have got the decision over Degale.
@dellboi94
@dellboi94 11 жыл бұрын
Gorguruga It's different, at the time people were saying how well Groves conducted himself against Degale. Now Groves just seems desperate to unnerve Froch. When Groves is away from Carl he talks allot but the times they were head to head he piped down, I think it's false confidence from George. I rate George but I think this has come way to soon for him.
@Gorguruga
@Gorguruga 11 жыл бұрын
dellboi94 It's not that different - you got to remember that Degale and Groves have a long history. There's a reason they stopped being friendly. We can see Groves personality coming through as he tries to belittle Froch on camera so imagine what Degale had to put up with before all that, years ago. So we caught Degale reacting to a lot of stuff Groves had probably said in the past, after Groves had already sparked off the anger in Degale with his own conduct. But because it wasn't all caught on camera, Groves played it off like he was totally innocent. I'm sure he must have wound Degale up in the same way he did Froch, a long time ago. He's just that sort of character.
@DJMDLM1
@DJMDLM1 11 жыл бұрын
Gorguruga Froch doesn't have any grounds to criticise Groves' behaviour. Froch initiated any belittling. It started when Froch criticised Groves for sparring Kessler, claiming he was a bit of a 'traitor' for helping a non-Brit yet Froch rang up Kessler prior to his fight with Magee (a fellow Brit) and advised Kessler to hit him with body shots. When the fight was announced, he said he couldn't remember Groves' name, he said he isn't in his league and that he doesn't really deserve a shot at his title. If you watch the first press conference back Groves doesn't say anything to undermine Froch. Froch refers to himself as 'an international superstar', then in their head to head shot, Froch talks first and say's 'you're way out of your depth and your breath stinks'. So really Froch started it all. On that day, when they were talking to Johhny Nelson, he refused to shake Groves' hand, wouldn't look at him, called him 'Georgey boy', a 'chump' and said he has 'a glass jaw'. I think it was only the last few minutes of Ringside where Groves came across as smug and then he sounded stupid saying 'are you gonna cry'?
@Gorguruga
@Gorguruga 11 жыл бұрын
DJMDLM1 Half of that I agree with, in fact I wrote somewhere earlier on about Froch's behaviour well before the Groves fight was even considered seriously. He said on Sky Sports "who's he?" when they asked him about a potential Groves fight down the line, sort of half-joking. Froch isn't totally innocent in this I agree. I think Froch initially saw Groves as a massive leap down in level of competition so he reacted with disdain towards him. Either that or he was concerned about fighting him based on the sparring they had together - Groves claims to have got the better of Froch in the subsequent spars after being dropped. It could be argued that Groves is reacting to what Froch initially said but I think he has been the one who persisted with the belittling and subtle verbal attacks a lot more than Froch. I can see how having to constantly deal with that attitude could wind a lot of people up, Froch and Degale included. So overall, while Froch isn't totally blameless in this, Groves in my mind has been constantly belittling and demeaning Froch, even if it's deceptively subtle and innocuous on the surface, it's still a continued barrage of underhand comments that, in their repetition, will hit a raw nerve with anyone.
