Matt. Your jet is really cool. I’m glad you guys have such a cool opportunity. But…. you guys need some checklists. You’re going to bend something or worse… get hurt. And… you need to work on CRM; who’s doing what from the front and the back seats. And figure out the O2 mask mic issue. A 13,000’ cabin alt with your mask hanging to your side is a recipe for hypoxia. Also, you can’t ask a US controller for millibars altimeter settings. Make a small conversion chart, laminate it and put it on the panel near the altimeter. Or replace the altimeters with ones reading inHG. You can’t legally fly IFR if you can’t set the altimeters. Make a checklist, set some CRM standards, and Fly safe. And have fun ;)

Enjoyed the video. As a professional pilot, the whining to tower was cringe worthy however. Take it up with them on a phone call after you land. Repeatedly asking for something you’ve been denied for won’t help things. You guys need to hire the trainer for a bit longer. Going from piston to jet takes more than a few flights to get accustomed, especially in a high performance jet.
@jamesmaddison45462 жыл бұрын
I fear this jet is causing him to make some poor decisions because he's so eager to fly it. He's taking risk after risk, for what? Nothing. First he had that VFR flight where bad storms were closing in on the airport yet he took off anyway, leading to a divert, and now the stuff in this video.

Nice touchdown at Oshkosh. You’re getting really good at handling the jet. There’s a lot more to flying military jets than flying the Bonanza, right? There’s also a lot more to maintenance of military jets … as you know by now. It’s a cool little plane but I think I’ll stick with civilian hardware. I don’t know what’s going on with the radios in the jet but they definitely need some work.

Great video. It seems like you guys are having equipment issues and I’d highly recommend the guy in the front seat to wear his oxy mask at all times. Airventure puts a tremendous strain on the air traffic control system in the area during its run. Why can't you understand that if they make an exception for you - even if there is no other traffic, they'll have to make exceptions for everyone else? This is especially true next year when this video has been seen by others and think "Well, Guthmiller got special treatment, I should too." Please don't tell me that you and your backseater are now in the "I can afford expensive airplanes, so I get to impose my will on all other air traffic related items" club.
@skyking22022 жыл бұрын
And in fact the controller has ZERO discretion here. Just like NOTAMS are non-discretionary for a pilot, ATC lives by specific procedure authorizations and LOAs that are not discretionary. It's not just "if we let you do it, others will want to do it." It's "if I let you do it, it will result in disciplinary action."
