I find your content very refreshing. You totally give me 2009 natural hair community vibes. I came into the community around 2011, so I think I connect with your content on that level. I love my natural products and DIYs; they keep me from over buying products. I’m trying to get my hair to your length one day. I’m almost waist length, so my next goal is tailbone. Oh and tender-headed sistas unite!!! 😂

I can definitely relate to assessing our mindset and feelings about our hair. Most of us over 50 have had a lot of negative experiences about our hair and have tried to change how it looks or cover it up in order to assimilate to societal standards. Please continue these discussions because our natural hair is unique, versatile, and beautiful.

I had to conform with the fact that I don’t need a leave in conditioners, hair creams, prepoo and detanglers. Feels good to apply but doesn’t nothing for my hair. Warm Water and grease is all I need. Shopping for hair products is now very boring 😄

What is interesting … you take on topics that are often overlooked by many. It comes down to basics! We have grown to make things harder than it needs to be. Now ,arguably it is hard to filter through the myths especially if you don’t know better but many don’t want to reset to get to the truth and that’s the unfortunate part. Well done!

I've big chopped again, my hair is growing pretty fast, as usual. I'm challenged to steer clear of braids wigs and weaves. I have lots of loop headbands, open headbands, and diamond, tortoise, turquoise-look, and other clips plus loads of dainty earrings. I love making my own products or some for friends. It's more intentional for me to reject adding any other hair. I'm up for the challenge though. It's made me seriously rethink beauty standards. Your talk on this video encapsulated my feelings on hair care perfectly. So unproblematic and transparent. You are free to continue to rock our worlds. 🎶 You got it girl, 🎶 you got it girl 🎶 💅🏿 🐩

You’re so pretty!!! Thanks for the tips 😍 the biggest thing for me was the mindset required to endure the journey. I was always so short sighted and that caused me to relax my hair twice 😩. I think in the beginning the content was more routine focus because there were significantly less products available. It’s great that black women have more options now, high quality options, but at this point, it is saturated and going back to the basics can simplify things for us.

I wish I found your video last year when I took out my second microloc set. My hair was much longer, but I just didn't know how to take care of it. I was frustrated. I even made a natural hair rant and thays when I installed my last set of locs lol but now I'm grateful to have found you and such an easier routine! Thank you!❤❤❤

The reason why everything in the natural hair community is product base is simple: ✨advertisement✨Letting us think that we need sorten products to achieve hair goals is simply a marketing strategy and these „influencers“ get paid by those big companies

Really good point. I agree that we become product-focussed because we want the quickest results rather than simply being consistent.

I really loved this video 💖💖 i resonated with somethings and i liked hearing your point of view. I think what's interesting is that we are the opposite with wash and gos and braidouts. For me, I spent a very long time doing regular braid outs and keeping my hair stretched and my hair felt so tangled, and dry and matted, it also made me just..spend longer manipulating my hair because I don't like how my braid outs look when left on their own so i ended up putting my stretched hair into buns and re-braiding it semi-regularly. 😓😓 Once I finally figured out how to do wash-and-gos that I felt pretty with..it was a big difference, i noticed my hair hurt less (because it wasn't tangled) and i broke less hair ect, it felt softer and more moisturized etc. 😊 so this is why i think it's really important for people to learn what their own hair likes, and i i liked that you have that point of view in the video, you're not framing what works for you as what works for everyone. I did resonate with liking styles that are kind of harmful to our hair.. I have two wash and gos technique, and one of them gives me a lot more shrinkage, whch i really like i think it looks so cute it makes me feel like i have a pixie cut--but it definitely breaks my hair when i do it which is not normal for me. I like it so much and i've been doing it all summer although I know it's not as gentle as my usual wash-and-go technique 🙈🙈 Going to do some braids next week to give my hair a break. I also was (still am?) really drawn to korean and japanese styles . What I do now is look for ways incorporate their ...vibe/energy, if that makes sense (lol) for example, "I like that this hairstyle looks really elegant but youthful...what's a way to style my hair that will also look elegant and youthful?" I think one of the things that really draws me towards that fashion is how airy and free and light the clothes i see online look to me..as opposed to stuffy and uncomfortable and rigid, and so now my goal is to find a way to also create that feeling of a light and airy style but in my own way.

After trying a lot of products and reading the ingredients, I found that any conditioner with Behentrimonium methosulfate or chloride will probably work well. And usually if it doesn't work well, then I need to use very large amounts and really work it in. I used one conditioner that I was not impressed with, so I decided to use big handfuls of it to get rid of it and free up my counter space... and then it worked like a miracle. haha. I would say if someone is having trouble with lenght retention or something, then pick one thing you do and do the complete opposite for a couple weeks. If you wash once a month, then wash every other day. If you use a moisturizing shampoo, then use a clarifying one or stop shampoo completely. And listen to the hair. Don't be afraid to experiment. You never know until you know.
