You can separate the charging cable from the rubber base to charge the remote while it's still in the wristband. I figured that out last night.

Great review. The stats can only be added after the recorded video and not during live recording, correct? I found a few issues with this GPS Preview Remote: Sometimes the screen will get frozen esp when I connect both the GPS unit and Insta360 app to the Ace Pro at the same time (Insta360 Tech support confirmed we should able to connect both devices at the same time). Another issue, if I trim down my recorded video (say 30 mins down to 5 mins), the distance stat when I add it to the video footage, will no longer show the actual distance. Say the original footage 30 min (10km). Now the new trimmed footage 5 min is showing the distance of 2km only. It only shows the distance from the start to the finish of the new trimmed video. This is very annoying.

Yes the gauges are added after the video, during post production either via the mobile app or desktop. I generally tend to import the entire video clip into the desktop software (prefer desktop over the app), add the gauges I’m after and make any changes etc, then trim the video in the software to the section I’m after just before exporting…..this seems to work well for me….

@@iftibashir That's what I did. Added the stats and then trimmed the video, but after the trim the stats ain't the same anymore.

@@paulchin4094 That makes sense to me. It is actually pretty clever when you are dealing with a subset of the overall capture.

There is one more mistake that I haven't seen anyone point out. In the case of the VIDEO option, there are additional functions for leveling 45 degrees and 360 degrees on the camera. But there are no such functions on the remote control, but there is horizon leveling. I was actually wondering why not all the functions are available in VIDEO mode. And the pilot actually has some differences, lololol. Such a mistake, but on the plus side. Strange, actually. An additional disadvantage is that there are no modes in the application or the remote control that we can create ourselves.

Hi there- i followed your instruction on the set up of the ace and remote and all went well.i had the GPS flashing indicating a good strong signal and recorded from the remote. A live display on both monitors. the big issue came with the latest studio ap i installed and where you had 4 markers on the right side of screen -I only had the 3 so no way i could see or get into the GPS function to attach the data. Any ideas on what i could be doing wrong and a reply greatly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for this. Great video. Do you know how to turn off live preview on the remote pls. I can see an option to sleep the screen but not remove the live feed altogether - sometimes, that would be useful to maximise battery life. Cheers

Honestly, the battery lasts so long n the remote i wouldn't bother.

Yes - I would have preferred USB-C in a way - even with a rubber flap - at least that way the camera cable can be used to charge the remote as well…..

And can you control the camera and have a preview on the Garmin watch? In the case of the camera remote control, you have the functions of controlling from a smartphone as well as GPS and compass. And the price is really astronomical. It should cost half that price.
@stefanp5261Ай бұрын
However, controlling the camera from a smartphone is not as convenient. The remote control can also be attached to the handlebars of a bicycle or motorcycle, or a long selfie stick. You can turn the camera on and off with the remote control. When I have a smartphone on my bike with navigation turned on, I won't be constantly switching to the application and turning the recording on and off when I want to record something interesting. So in many cases, it is an irreplaceable device. Unfortunately, like everything for insta360 cameras, it is expensive. Insta360 is something like Apple. You buy the product, but you have to pay a lot for the extras. There is also no microphone jack, and the adapter itself costs about $30 in my country. The camera itself is now getting cheaper, because GoPro and Action also have reduced prices. The season is ending and new models will probably be coming out soon...

@joesheble54586 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, that is one very big problem with this unit that nobody ever seems to speak about. At least on the X3, the unit only records for 29 minutes before saving the video clip, and starting a new one. So the GPS sees the new clip as a new and separate trip, thus resetting all the stats for each individual clip.

Insta360 has confirmed that if you add GPS to any 4k footage on the phone app you can only export in a maximum of 1080p which renders it pretty useless for content creators.

Bluetooth can't transmit video.
@iftibashir9 ай бұрын
In version 4.2, the speed of data streaming was 1.4 megabytes per second (could get away with 720p in bursts). But in 5.0, this has almost doubled to 2.0 megabytes. Although this isn’t fast enough for video streaming at higher resolutions of bear in mind the small screen of the remote, so a very low data rate is required, which it seems BT5 can easily handle. This is also why the live preview can only go up to 8m. WiFi would be able to go much further.
@Cameraflyer-9 ай бұрын
@@iftibashir there would be much greater latency. I believe this is WiFi.
