She lost at Dubai and Miami but in both cases it was similar story, she won previous WTA 1000 then in next tournament she had to play day after day and ultimately lost to more rested player. In Rome finally weather was good, she has day off between matches and was able to win 2nd master title in row. She has 7:1 against TOP 6 of WTA Race (2xSabalenka, 2xRybakina, 2xCollins, 1xGauff, 1xZheng, lost only once to Rybakina) this is how dominant she is.

Very reminiscent of young Rafa, it's very apparent Iga is not only inspired by Nadal but also channeling him: Fights tooth and nail for every point, super high intensity almost machine like. Covers the entire court at breakneck speed, extremely hard to get a ball past her from the baseline(if Sabalenka who hits harder than most men can't, then i can't imagine anyone else doing it) Also, her mental strength is commendable. Iga is going to dominate clay for a very long time... unless the rest of the women find a loophole in her game.

@@tennisobserver995 On clay they played 2 matches only and in Rome Iga retired. In addition we have artificial clay in Stuttgart so not a big factor for me. In Paris Elena is not a threat for Iga. Elena's serve is one of the best ofc but she is a "not so good" returner with 43.7% RPW and 35.5 BRK% all below TOP50 avg. The serve is the foundation of Elena's game and if it is not firing she is in trouble.
@tennisobserver9958 ай бұрын
@@neer167 I hope they do meet in the semifinals or final in RG so we can remove all speculations. Of course, Elena is more likely to lose in the early rounds than Iga, especially now that she is coming off an illness and does not have match rhythm coming into RG. You're right that her serve is the foundation of Elena's game. This year, however, she has shown that she can win matches when she has 0 aces and has the most 3 set wins this year. Actually, they have already played 3x on clay. The other match occurred in the juniors at the final of the Trofeo Bonfiglio, a Grade A event. That was the match where Iga came closest to beating Elena on clay. As it is, clay in Roland Garros and Rome is the surface where Iga has the best odds of beating Elena. Anywhere else, Elena will probably win. Iga beat Elena at Doha this year but in my opinion she was just lucky Elena injured herself in a freak accident. Before that injury, Elena was on the way to handing Iga a breadstick on a high bouncing slow hard court in very windy conditions which is where Iga thrives best, and would have beaten her in straight sets. I'm a big Iga fan and has been her fan since 2019 but I'm more of an objective tennis analyst and having played tennis for a little while and advanced table tennis for a long time, I think I know why Iga will likely lose to Elena more often than not on any surface and am planning to make a video on that, time permitting

Quite disappointed in this highlights... can't understand why did they choose to show almost only Sabalenka point. Yes she plays with a lot of power et make some impressive shot (when she put the ball in...) but Swiatek, in an other way, is realy impressive with much more good point that what these highlight let think. This kind of video are showing to people what women tennis is, that include people who don't know tennis. This video doesn't show what was this match and the best point of the match. It only show a one sided vision of tennis, impressive and noisy, flashy. That was something choosen by WTA and its sad to see the most dominant player since S.Williams wronged by WTA because her game is not flashy enought for them. Sad promotion for tennis

Wtf mostly Sabalenkas points shown. Why?

Simply because Sabalenka kept going for all or nothing throughout the match, she hit some winners but also a lot of errors.

Rybakina could have made moves to catch Iga this year but her illness in Dubai and Indian Wells and Rome has completely destroyed her season.

Iga, is in my opinion, an all-time great, but Aryna and Elena are great players. After Roland Garros, Iga will not be that great, and Aryna and Elena will be better than her for the rest of the year. Let's celebrate Iga's win as tennis fans. No need to put down all the rest.
@westonmeyer31108 ай бұрын
@@tennisobserver995 Rybakina can seriously match Iga or even surpass her, she can play well on every surface. Rybakina hasn’t even unlocked her potential on grass yet nevermind on any other surface. Rybakina should be the one who plays Iga in every final no matter what surface and she can come away with more wins than losses. Her allergies and weak immune system are killing her career. It is extremely frustrating, she is Iga’s rival not Sabalenka and Gauff.

Last year, Sabalenka and Rybakina won Madrid and Rome. And Stuttgart. They have been the only ones to win on clay during Swiatek's dominance. But with Rybakina being sick and Swiatek being in the head of Sabalenka and Gauff (at least on clay), I think she has an even bigger chance than she did last year

@@RobertOfenloch em, no actually. Iga won stuttgart last year and she reached the final in rome. But anyway what matters is that she won french open, thats the biggest tournament on clay.

Another brilliant performance by the best on the WTA tour. She's 21-4 in WTA finals, which is bonkers. 10 1000 level titles already, at just 22 years old. That's how many titles the recently retired Muguruza had total in all WTA tournaments. Great run for Sabalenka these last two tournaments.

As a guy who focusses on men's tennis, but has now looked at the women's via Google (as with the men's, just the highlights on the Tennis TV YT channel) from time to time, I thought it again that this duo is back in the final. For me Iga, even if Sabalenka is funny with the dances etc. (She can't help the war either) Is great and I don't begrudge her winning. She's quiet/calm (not bad, Sabalenka, there are men's tennis players too), but a bit thinner/feminine and just likeable, down-to-earth somehow, this Iga.
