Men doing men! This is who we were before the Europeans brought in their limited perspective of gender.

This is a pre-colonial and traditional dance, so you can't see it from the perspective of modern sexuality strictly.

@@chineezeks-chinemelumezekw3306 There has always been male and female genders in Igboland. Let''s not pretend just to justify this dance.

Igbo tradition and culture is very complicated. There is a reason why Igbo language has no gender pronouns like " he or she and his and her." Igbo ancestors before civilization removed all that because they believed in equality and to allow for certain activities to be gender neutral, such as this. Same applies to Adamma masquerade which is a female but performed by men. You will also notice Adamma portrayed as light skin, to also tell you some Igbo ancestors were light skin, a reason some Igbos are light skin. My point is somethings are preserved the way our ancestors intended them to be, meaning dances like this are gender neutral and men are allowed to mimic women, same way men wear Adamma female costumes and dance like women too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKKQiHanZs2tjJY
