Always keep in mind that during electrolysis keep panic in mind, not the emotion but the abbreviation, Positive Anode,Negative Is Cathode anode attracts the anion while the cathode attracts the cation..... Opposite charges attract

I have a doubt. In the reactivity series aluminum is more reactive than hydrogen so isn't aluminium left in the solution and hydrogen formed at cathode?
@matthui9898 жыл бұрын
The aluminum ore is not dissolve in water, it is molten therefore there will not be any H+ and OH- ions

Cathode is (+ve electrode), and Anode is (-ve electrode).. why is it different here..?
@SomEbodyisDERP8 жыл бұрын
Nick Swan Cathodes are negative electrodes and they attract positive ions (opposites attract) Anodes are positive electrodes and they attract negative ions.

Sorry, Yusuf, we teach the Edexcel IGCSE syllabus so that is what our videos are based around. We make them for our own students to revise with, but share them for anyone else who might find them useful. I am sure there is some overlap with the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus, but it is up to you to find out what your exam board expects you to know and whether any of our material will help.
