Writing a definition is actually recommended by various examiners and it is written in various IGCSE economics textbooks

It might help to focus a lower ability student at the start of a 12 mark question. But a student will not gain marks for it (unless the examiner is new and VERY generous) as AO1 is not being examined. It also wastes time.
