Apparently this no longer works (with an apple watch SE). Bought an SE today, paired it with my old iphone with sim card in it, turned off all 3 devices, moved sim from old iphone to android phone, turned on watch and android and the watch doesnt receive any messages at all. Both watch and android are connected to the same wifi, still nothing. Anything else that needs to be done?

Yes.. it's basically connecting over the internet..you can use it with wifi as well.. the watch needs to be connected to the internet basically..

I do NOT have an iPhone. I'm trying to set up an Apple watch with only an Android phone. This was useless to me. I have to switch to an Apple watch to see if I have AFib. The doctor's office said I could do it with an Android phone. Yikes.

@@igeekified You cannot even set up your watch with only an Android phone. I bought an old iPhone 9 since the Apple watch website said it would work. It would not work. The watch demanded iOS 17, when Apple's website said iOS 16 would work with my watch. I took both the watch and the phone back, and was relieved the store took them. What a debacle. Thanks for the video. It should be retitled though since it implied you can set up the watch with ONLY an Android phone. You still need an iPhone.

The reason i asked this question is because i use an android phone but i want an apple watch , so what would be the easiest way to do that without losing the health related tracking and without me owning an i phone , i can get an ipad if needed but not an iphone.

I put my apple id as family member and tried to pair my GPS watch with my apple id but failed. It must pair with her apple id. If I need to pair with my id, the watch must be GPS+cellular.
