"One just hopes one can carry on ...and they ll eventually have to play my records" This is exactly what happened! And everyone finally found out Iggy was a musical genius!

The front teeth missing are due to bad crowd diving accidents. He probably didn't have the money or time to have them fixed.

This interviewer tries far too hard to lead Iggy but clips of his interviews from the 70s are always cool.

He looks sick around this period 81 / 82 really good he cleaned his act up soon after as I think this was when the alcohol cocaine and touring was really taking a toll

@@ndesdsadfd Sometime around 82/83 just after zombie birdhouse , he lost the plot completely and had another psychotic episode I believe ....soon after he moved to New York got married and saved by Bowies China girl cover royalties which gave him breathing room .....he didn't do anything else until 1986 Blah Blah Blah I believe

interestiingly if you look at interviews from 83 he was actually trying to reinvent himself as Jimmy Osterberg and drop the iggy pop name !!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep7Te2qNg7yImaM

The year I was born! And yet I love Iggy Pop as musician genius and as person too. Iggy and the Stooges are one of my favorite bands , also i love Iggys solo music! Great to see an interview from that era

I'm a huge Iggy Pop fan. That's why I hate the Party album. Shallow, superficial and tinged with disco. A misguided departure to say the least.
@rileycole25882 жыл бұрын
This is just my personal opinion, but as a huge iggy fan, I love party. One of my favorite albums. The production/music is some of the best he ever had, thanks to Ivan kral from the the patti smith group. Why do you think it’s superficial and shallow?

@@rileycole2588 tottaly agree! most underrated highpoint of his carrier. and the live lineups were so incredibly good. 3 slightly different ones in 1981.

@@hwb-zalpach yup, this was an awesome era for iggy. He was a madman… glad he cleaned up but don’t regret any of the eccentric and truly unique songs we got in the early 80s. Zombie birdhouse is excellent as well. Soldier is my least favorite arista album but still love it. I do see how this album could be interpreted as superficial and shallow, I just think it’s a great album that’s different and fun.

say what? in thus interview iggy sez he's a 'conservative'. and, to the right, of reagan. in my bubble i'd never in a mllion years would of thunk. he mentioned his song "i'm a conservative" I'd always assumed he was being ironic. does. this. mean. he's a trumper? this interview took place 40 yrs ago. the older one gets, the more conservative. my life has no meaning.
@evanwright9016 Жыл бұрын
The difference is he's well read and seems to have an endless appetite for learning. Most of the conservatives from the 80s to present were/are overemotional, reactionary scum who don't have the time for books. This is what separates a Zappa from a Ted Nugent.
@nillehessy6 ай бұрын
idk i don´t think so no either he was pandering to those viewers or he ment he a conservative like in the late 1800s early 1900s which is pretty good yeah
