I have to share this. I've always been a huge fan of Zelda since 1986. That being said I hated Twilight Princess for some reason. it took too long to get going in the game. While it collected dust, i played the shit out of all the other Zelda games, then i finally got further in Twilight Princess. It ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. Great game. Don't let the slow start fool you

Twilight Princess was amazing. The only thing it needed was some sort of refeshing colorful town you could visit. After I'm stuck in a dark dungeon I like to go to happy colorful towns and do side quests so I can refresh myself and prepare for the next dungeon.

Try Majora's, it has the weirdest feel to it, there's Clocktown, very colorful and lively, but carrying a sense of sheer hopelessness, fear, and gloom that are hard to describe (just take a look at that freaking moon...!).

Miganishi Majora's mask was and still is my absolute favorite. OOT in second, WindWaker 3rd TP in 4th. Though it is gloomy and dark and really after playing for a full day I kinda start feeling down myself. The challenge of it was crazy. I don't think I've ever taken so long to beat a zelda game. I think the feel of it really got to me and it's stuck with me for a while. The reason TP isn't in 3rd is because it tried Wayyyy too hard to be dark. While MM was set in to your mind and It just destroyed you if you got caught in the story. I don't replay it often because I take my time with it, unlike how i deal with OOT and just blow through the game. I know almost everything to know about OOT and TP, WW etc. But even as I play through for the 20th time MM still suprises me :) Sorry for the novel.

One main reason is there are a FUCKTON of artificial game lenghteners. Like the tear system (you know, that thing), the sumo wrestling, the huge amount of climbing which you have to do (which becomes easier after the claw shot and double claw shot so thats alright), and a bunch of other tedious stuff (No, not the payable stuff that plays a cutscene, those are somewhat useful to the game, like the cannon, which is almost necessary to the game)

+Christian Lampley I like Twilight Princess, but OoT doesn't get praised "only" because it started 3D Zelda games. Mechanics were executed so well in OoT that they have become conventions for most 3D games, aside from having a really good story and taking a couple of elements from alttp but putting a brand new spin. OoT also set the standard for cutscenes in 3D games ( a lot of people overlook that). Twilight Princess is a good game with good puzzles and really good storyline, but it doesn't feel like a new experience. It's pretty much a combination of OoT and alttp. It doesn't do anything new like OoT, and for that, MM and WW changed a lot of the formula and have their own identity as they possess unique mechanics that drive the game world. Twilight Princess didn't have anything that hadn't been done in Zelda up to a point. As for doing everything better, do you think you couldn't do a better job at making the SAME game better 10 years later? That's what TP is essentially. It definitely improved on the same OoT/aLttP formula in some finer details, but it doesn't have its own identity. Like I said before, I like TP, but it' not a stand-out in the Zelda series at least personally.

Majoras Mask and Wind Waker feel like new experinces and OoT also came before them. I haven't played any Zelda games after Phantom Hourglass so I cant comment on the newer games, but I gather Skyward Sword also had a unique game world with unique elements, and in A Link Between Two Worlds you can buy items before you reach certain dungeons. That really opens up the world and brings in elements from the original Zelda into the modern Zelda formula. Twilight Princess didnt do any of that.

I'm so tired of the fact that just because Wind Waker got a visual upgrade in HD, suddenly everyone is calling it the best Zelda and bashing Twilight Princess as dated and just a OOT knock off. Things I liked about TP (I played the Gamecube verion, cause I don't like using the motion controls) Music Atmosphere and feel of the world The game feels more serious (than dark) Overworld (the sense of freedom, and some places just felt peaceful) Art Style/Graphics Items Locations (Kakariko Village, Lake Hylia, Zoras domain, Gerudo desert, Ordon Village, Snowpeak) Dungeons (yes I liked the dungeons) Boss, and mini-boss puzzles (but too easy) The controls (on the Gamecube) Final bosses (still too easy though) Sidequests (bugs, poes, magic armor, second malo mart, heart pieces, bottles, bomb arrow river thing, random treasure chest puzzles, all secret moves) Fishing (didn't like at first, but I warmed up to it) The mountain snowboarding An alright story The fact that you feel badass as Link in this game Things I didn't like A little bit easy Getting the stupid sky cannon assembled Collecting light tears Not much to do in Hyrule city The twilight dungeon The wolf sequences were only ok Tried too hard to be dark at times Overall I thought that this game was pretty much a masterpiece with minor complaints. Judging a Video Game to be rememberable by it's Graphics is an Opinion agree with, but i disagree that cartoony Graphics can't be a part of this. Let's take the most hated one on Wind Waker for instance - like in every Zelda, the Graphics is suited to the Atmosphere and Story Line. I morely feel that i wouldn't have Wind Waker so positive in my Mind if it wasn't in that style, as it just fits to the Story - The Story had quite a magical touch, the game itself also had, a morely "Happy" Graphic Style was a better choice to go. Other than Twilight Princess, being the most serious one ever made - thus are the Graphics. Both were Great Titles. If you're coming up with the argument that then, only serious Zeldas shall be made, is also conflicting with the fact that every Zelda would feel the same then - something that Aonouma stated to be impossible for his series.

Are you freaking kidding me? I forgot who said it, but Zelda is not just for children. Hell, most of the puzzles, and dungeons, it has (with the exception of a few from SS) would be too hard for most "children" to handle, which is why you see a large amount of comments dealing with people having to "go get their big brother to help them." Some people try to cover this up by simply saying "Zelda Sucks." On top of that, it has a complex storyline that "children" would not be able to understand to its full extent. Plus, half of the bosses would probably give a few children nightmares (Stallord). Those of you who are saying Zelda is just for children, you've got it twisted.

Hands down my favorite Zelda game of all time and 2nd favorite game of all time... Best thing was it pushed from the calm aspect to a dark and more intense story hence the T rating... My only problems was that in the Wii version u could have up to 3 items selected and the GC version u could only have 2 and u can't manually use your shield Overall it's perfect in every way from Link waking up to the end credits... 10/10

Balder But Twilight Princess took all of the flaws from Ocarina of Time, like the terrible aiming mechanics, and perfected them. Also, the story of Twilight Princess is perfect, while the story of Ocarina of Time is just your typical damsel-in-distress Mario story. I'm not saying that Ocarina of Time sucks, just that it had several flaws, as did Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess perfected them. Twilight Princess was also the perfect sequel for Ocarina, combining the crisp graphical style and nice controls of Ocarina with the dark, eerie story of Majora, making it the pinnacle of the Zelda Series. Also, how can Ocarina of Time be your favorite when you can't even spell it right?

Jakob Farrar zelda wasn't kidnapped till the end of the game. she was mostly your guide through Sheik. so it's not really your typical damsel-in-distress game IMO. and which Ocarina of Time are we talking about here? cuz the aiming was great in Ocarina of Time 3D using the gyro. It was also a graphical improvement over the original N64. And as far as dark stories go, Majora's Mask felt way darker than the twilit story of Twilight Princess. even Ocarina of Time had a dark side too: the mysterious Sheikahs, Kakariko Village, the Bottom of the Well, the Graveyard, the Shadow Temple and the uncanny "bloody history" surrounding those mentioned areas. don't get me wrong though Twilight Princess was a fantastic game and one of my favorites, but it's predecessors made it possible.

123wiktorex I love Skyward Sword, and Ocarina of Time, but I didn't really like all the hand-holding I the game. It was rated E10+, but I felt like a five year old could play it and beat it pretty effortlessly. I thought the motion controls did bring something to the quality of the game, the graphics in some areas were phenomenal, while other places they were just ok, and the story was amazing. But one of my biggest complaints about the game is Fi, the helper of the game, who constantly intterupts you with needless and obvious information. But, nevertheless, Skyward Sword is definitely one of the best Zelda games out there, but, in my opinion, not the absolute pinnacle. Definately my favorite Zelda game. Though I'm more of a fan of the GameCube version. There's nothing wrong with the Wii version but I don't really like how the world is mirrored from the GCN version for the sake of making Link right handed. Regardless I highly recommend TP to anyone who hasn't played it yet. I don't care if you get the GCN version, the Wii version or the HD remake on the Wii U, just play it if you haven't yet! It's awesome!

reading through the comment section i see that twilight princess is getting alot of destructive critisisim, and i know TP has some problems that effect the gameplay of different zelda games eg. majora's mask. but it also has alot of aspects that alot of zelda games dont have for example: -very unique combat skills -the ten hidden skills are one of the most useful combat skills i have used so far in the zelda franchize, no other zelda game has simillar moves to the 10 hidden skills in TP. -insanly fun and challanging dungeons -two of the hardest temples of tp is the water temple (obviusly), and the city in the sky. these are the hardest ass temples in the game, and they take insanely long to beat, but its still fun and challanging. -get 10-20 items overall -i dont really remember how many dungeon items you get in zelda tp, but i know its about 10-12 items, but you can get other things ouside the dungeons eg. 4 bottles, 3 bomb bags, and one master sword. to people who dont know, you dont get the master sword by defeating a boss or whatever, you get it by doing the 3rd to the hardest puzzle in the game, the guardian puzzle, basically you move and one guardian moves with you and the other moves the opposite way, and you have to put them back to where the were before, doesent seem hard right? watch a video about it, see how hard the thing is. anyway, thats just a few

I bought and own the GC version. The game is gimped so noobfully that I was desperate to play with a cheat code so I would take more damage upon being hit. That's one of the reasons I only finished TP once whereas my fav Zeldas I've finished multiple times. Way too easy and a turn off to the Zelda hardcore.

It's great watching and reading reviews from 2006 compared to newer ones. The games journalists turned on this game a few years later, which was mad. The graphics obviously haven't aged as well as Wind Waker but that doesn't take anything away from the game when you play it.

The Wiimote was by far the worst part of the game. In fact, half way through the game, I found a tool to convert your save to the GameCube version. That made the game SO much better. The controls are so much tigther in the GameCube version.

Twilight Princess is my favorite game of all time. If you don't enjoy it, then your'e not getting into it and seeing the pure beauty of this game. The story line, the music, the art, everything about this game is amazing. My favorite soundtracks are from this game, such as the credits music. The soundtracks are midi, but they are still amazing. There are flaws but who am I to correct those? I've never made a game this great. The twilight theme is the best game theme I've ever heard of. Nintindo approached it perfectly. Well done Nintindo.

This Zelda title is really different from the normal titles that I'm used to. I'm used to the cartooney graphics such as in the windwaker. This is one of my favorite Zelda games because of that dark feel I love it it's a really great game even though it's on wii and not in HD.

Dialga Palkia not liking it doesn't mean I'm not a fan, a proper fan is someone who loves what's good in the series and isn't scared to admit it when he thought something was downright awful. I define a masterpiece as something that does a fantastic job achieving everything it tries to achieve, this game doesn't achieve a single thing to me. from the story/storytelling to the exploration to the underused items etc. and etc. I can explain why, but I'm not sure if care enough to hear me criticize practically everything this game does

The minigames were the best(bomb arrow shooting). Not only did Nintendo accomplish it's goal by having this be a zelda game with horseback fighting, but it was the only one I've played with extremely exciting minigames.

I can honestly say that Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game. I am a huge fan of story-driven games, and Twilight Princess does a great job at that. I also love the dark atmosphere that they put in the game. It gives it more of an "adult" feeling that us aging Zelda fans really appreciate and understand.

It's a shame they went with another cell shaded art style after showing us they gorgeous e3 2011 Zelda Tech Demo. Nintendo should have remade TP instead of WW if they were going to make Zelda Wii U have the art style it did. They actually made an explaination to that when they announced Wind Waker HD. They said that they wanted to make Twilight Princess in HD but all it did was slightly change the textures or something of the sort, basically it was not brought up enough to justify it being released under a false guise of HD so they decided on Wind Waker.

I remember being like 8 years old first playing Ocarina of Time. I had just got my 64 for christmas and it was the first game I played on it, I spent so many hours of my childhood just being amazed by the games' characters and story.. now years and years later, I havent played a Nintendo game since the N64 was discontinued, but now I decided to just dive into Twilight Princess.. and wow what an experience thus far.. so nostalgiac yet fresh.. why did it take me so long to play this? i love it

everything in this game came together for me: the cinematics, both visual and story-wise, the music, the characters. this honestly is my favorite zelda game, far above and beyond any of the other titles, including ocarina. i think compared to almost all the other games in the franchise, twilight princess was the most well thought-out and most grand of all the other zelda games. but that's just me.

In my opinion it was a bit disappointing for me. The game tried a bit too hard to be dark, and it mostly ended up in the color scheme. Zelda for me was always filled with lighthearted characters, amazingly catchy music and a mix between engaging combat, puzzles and just exploring in general(windwaker I'm looking at you). I didn't really feel the desire to explore the world, and the game felt a bit linear. Sure, windwaker was told you were to go, but once you got well enough into the game you could explore everything you wanted, while TP was so restrictive with item requirements. Heck, even in OoT I felt really restricted and not so immersed. And personally, the only really memorable character for me was Midna. It's not a bad game, but disappointing as a 3d Zelda. My personal favourites are Windwaker and Majora's Mask for different reason. Oh, and as for the graphics, I really don't believe a game should be judged by the way it looks instead of the gameplay (though games like Metroid 2 really ruined that point), but other Zelda titles didn't go bad at graphics at all. And before you start bashing me because I do not like the same game as you do, this is my opinion, and I'd rather have anything constructive instead of hate.

I will never forgot driving to Walmart at 11:00 at night on a suspended drivers license to get this game the night it stocked on the shelves. The anxiety of driving illegally was completely worth it when i made it home. Best Zelda game Post 2000
