Ignatian Contemplation which is Imaginative Prayer with Scripture
This method of prayer, contemplation, and meditation was developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola in the 1500's to help people get to know Jesus through imaginative interaction with scripture
First take a moment to get your surrounding the way that you want them.
Ignatian Contemplation is a way of using all of your senses and imagination to connect with God and by becoming a participant in the story being read. Let the Spirit Guide you.
I will read the same scripture story 4 times with 1 minute in between so your imagination can connect with the story.
Before each reading I will tell you what to focus on in the scripture
After the 4th reading we will end this session but you should spend 5-10 minutes letting the story continue to unfold in your imagination. Then come back and comment on who or what you were in the story and what happened. There is no right or wrong answer.
First Reading
Listen to the story and try to pick up on the basic things happening in the story. Where is the story, Who is in the story, and what is happening.
Second Reading
Listen to the story and dive a little deeper noticing details like who is in charge, are there more people around and what are they doing, what is the setting and environment, what time of day is it, what is the mood.
Third Reading
Feel yourself in the story. Are you one of the main characters, somebody just watching, an animal, or just an object like a rock or water pitcher? What are you doing? How do you feel? Are there more sounds or smells that are not in the text? How are the people around you feeling?
Fourth Reading
After this last reading let the story unfold. See where God and The Holy Spirit take you with the story in your imaginiation. Connect with Jesus and get to know him better.
After your time come back and comment on your experience.
At 23 Streams we want to provide resources to help you be in the presence of God all of the time. We have playlists for every part of the day.

I could feel myself be a part of each character as it unfolded. Ev en the pharisee's which surprised me with the reasonings in my heart. The hardest one for me to relate to and feel was the lame man. I have been pursuing healing myself for many years and the doubt and discouragements in my heart hinder me from feeling his healing I felt. Thank you so much for this. I love your meditations.

Faith breaks down barriers and pierces to the heart, doubt can watch all day and still never see. Bring our pain to Him, he loves us perfectly and wants first our hearts renewed.

I resonated most with the paralysed man and especially around the 4 people who carried him. Those were definitely friends from his inner circle. So committed to getting my healing. To the point of carryibg me from home to this house Jesus was in. Not being discouraged when there was no way in. Climbing on the roof, breakinf it open, and lowering me down. The roof was hot and uncomfortable, but a true friend! A true friend is patient. True friends have unity and love. And even when the paralysed man had run out of ideas, perhaps given up long ago, the four men knew that if they presented him to Jesus' feet, he would be healed. I felt convicted about the kind of friends i need. Those who can present me to Jesus feet and will go every length to see me healed. Can i be that friend too? When i was in Jesus' shoes. As he preached, the roof opened up and down came more work from His Father. As if the sun shone through as this paralytic man was being lowered. Gods work comes from God. We dont have to look far for it.

Thanks for sharing. I was the figure who had the idea to crumble the roof in the story. I got a sense of how Jesus multi tasked. And how in tune he was with the energy around him that he could read thoughts. I connected with how Jesus confronted the negativity with an observation and invitation.

The scribes could not accept the fact the Jesus can forgive and able to do wonders like healing, because of jealousy, envy and feeling insecure for they are the people with authority. It resonates with me of these people who are full of bitterness when they are jealous. I pray to Jesus for strength and for this envious people around me. Thank you for this guided meditation helps me lot. May God Bless you.

Thank you for this guided meditation it helped me see the scribes in a different light. I felt their pain in their thoughts of Jesus blasphemy. Their desire was to see the good in Jesus’ teachings and healings, but were pained by his blasphemy. I also felt the pain of Jesus in their refusal to see him for who he really was. I wonder if at times, I’m any different. On a different note, I found the music used is distracting and think perhaps a more calmer sound would be more conducive to achieve a more reflective outcome Just my thoughts. God bless your ministry

Thanks for the detailed reply and for the encouragement Jo Giudice! As for the music I have updated the music please go check one of the newer videos and comment there if the music is a better fit. I did notice that the most recent video is missing music all together (on accident) maybe you will like that best. Take care
