You're right, Xbox preached a more inclusive gaming scene, Sony and the likes of IGN just kicked sand in their face (all's fare in love and war!) Personally, I would of liked Xbox to have bought themselves out of the deathloop and ghostwire contracts! It feels like Xbox is gonna have a great generation, but the likes of IGN need to feed the narrative of someone "losing" so their ad stuffed website can get clicks to try and keep the lights on imo.

There's zero chance they put it on there, just as there's zero chance Sony puts Last of Us 2 on Xbox. Sorry but "not everyone can get hold of or afford both consoles"; and? Whose problem is that? This is the way things have always been. It's what exclusives are there for. If you want to play TES you're going to need an Xbox or PC. Can't afford one of thoes plus a PS5? Guess you're going to have to weigh up whether you still want that PS5 then. It's not MS' problem if their exclusive content makes things difficult for you lol.

My take is that people consider games like Uncharted, Halo or Mario as synonymous with Sony, MS and Nintendo and thus are ok with them being exclusive. Whereas ips like Spider-Man or Elder Scrolls that are not really associated with Sony or MS being exclusive to one console is considered distasteful. And then there is the limited exclusive that almost anyone but fanboys find absurd like FF7R or The Medium being exclusive for 6 months or so before being released on the other platform.

I get the frustration with timed exclusives like FF7 where Sony just pays to lock out competition…. It’s different when they help fund a project like Spider-Man tho. Sony approached insomniac after they made an Xbox exclusive. They wanted them to make a marvel game and got them in touch with marvel who said they could choose any super hero … insomniac chose Spider-Man and Sony published…Sony bought them a year later. Sony bought Guerrilla games, sucker punch and Insomniac … they all made games for either Nintendo, Xbox or both until they were acquired. Why would Xbox do any different. You aren’t gonna see horizon zero dawn, infamous/ ghost of Tsushima, or Spider-Man (insomniacs version… Spider-Man developed by others could go to Xbox). I have only ever own playstation and Nintendo because they had the games I wanted … if I really want a Bethesda game I’m gonna have to make choices … it’s the way it is. At least xbox does game pass and releases on PC for more options.

Marvel has tried it's hand with Spider-Man. Ultimate Alliance 3 on the Switch had Peter, Gwen, Miles and Eddie Brock in it. Sold like shit. Marvel Avengers eventually will get Spider-Man. Sold mediocrely, dwindling playerbase less than a year latter, game is considered shit. Contest of Champions has Peter. Free to pay game, only decent sales. Spider-Man PS4. 20 million copies sold, best selling superhero game ever. So I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Disney to make a solo Spider-Man game without Insomniac.

Sony only has exclusive rights to movies based on a contract with marvel (if I recall correctly could expire if Sony doesn’t meet certain conditions). Every other media (comic books, tv, video games etc it’s up to Marvel/Disney who gets to use him.

@@primemetroid4427 Just to clarify further Marvel sold the movie rights well before Disney bought them and it wasn't for any set period of time. Disney would have to buy those rights back and Sony would have to accept. That was why Sony locking out Spider-Man and his related characters out of the MCU was a real prospect. And as for the exact details of what else was on the table besides the movies? We don't know but what I do know is Spider-Man is still a PS exclusive despite the game coming out before Insomniac's acquisition and the only other prominent Spidey appearance in a game would be in the PS4/PS5 version of Avengers, which is made by Square Enix and Marvel studios so Sony should have no say on it being exclusive or not.

@@robf Typical microsoft of years past would have been less high quality games shown during their showcase. Now Xbox has a abundence of those types of games lined up and in development. It would be foolish to think Xbox will be trending downwards from here on out when you consider the 23 studios "and growing". This is a microsoft that is fully invested in the gaming market from the top down. Which we've quite literally never seen. Gamepass even makes 3rd party games feel exclusive and adds value to the console when they launch into gamepass day one. I love only having to pay a subscription for a huge variety of games.

Sure there's plenty of other titles of varying quality and genre, but that's the point of game pass. Try things you wouldn't normally buy.

I can't believe that Damon & Michael are STILL so incredulous about the idea that Elder Scrolls VI will be exclusive to Xbox. The level of denial on display here is interesting, confusing, hilarious, etc. At least Justin and Sam understand how exclusives work. Why won't this issue just go away? Microsoft finally went all in in their messaging to eliminate any doubt about exclusives, making very strong, obvious statements that these upcoming games will be exclusive. Halo is going to be way better than people are expecting. Both the campaign and MP will deliver big. Just wait. Starfield being next gen/high end PC is so good to hear. I didn’t expect games to be running on last gen longer than a few years for major games, but I could see indie or low power games definitely continue on the last gen for awhile. Nintendo is still King in my book in terms of fun software however and they do a lot on older hardware. I’m sure my age and nostalgia have contributed to my love of Nintendo but I don’t think that’s it completely. Still waiting for the game that is better than Breath of the Wild overall.

Xbox had the best E3 no way around it, it had anything for anyone, the presentation, format and presenters where Solid. The reveals for gamepass and upcoming titles excites me Xbox will definitely be a heavy hitter this generation the focus on exclusives and showing of their studios was so good to see and the relatively low cost to get into the Xbox ecosystem. Nintendo's was good but I personally didn't have a lot to look forward to BOTW2 and metroid dread where my highlights but nothing else really stood out. Sony will make a days of play or other Expo presentation to combat the absence from E3 and the solid presentations from XBOX and Nintendo. The summer gamefest kickoff wasn't Great and capcom didn't have anything to show the worst presentations of the E3 season.

Warioware minigames? A DLC character for smash? A remake of a GBA game (advance wars)? The sequel to the mediocre Mario party, now with 5 maps instead of 4? Metroid dread was refreshing, but even then, 2D Metroid has never been mainstream, or popular beyond a vocal following.

@@IronBurden Don’t forget Shin Megami Tensei! Yes it’s a niche JRPG in the states, but it’s a pretty big game and a big deal for JRPG fans and first time we saw gameplay. Very much looking forward to it. Also, it’s easy to diminish Warioware to just being mini games, but it’s so much more than that! The charm and pace those games bring to the table is unmatched, and just the fact that it’s a brand new title and coming to the switch is smile-evoking.

There are 2 reasons Microsoft didn't commit on a date for Halo Infinite. The first being is they don't want to drop on the same day as Call of Duty or Madden. So they are waiting for those release dates to drop. The 2nd and biggest reason why they are not dropping a release date is they are going to have a big HALO INFINITE event where they reveal the Single player gameplay and that is when they will announce the release date. It is all by design. I may go one step further ... MAYBE they want to wait to announce that Halo will be a Series XS only title available to XBone owners via cloud streaming for the first time with the new XBone XBox series XS app. I believe the Halo Infinite single player open world shot was part of the deception because they are saving the huge changes and release date for a special event to sell Halo and the new XBone cloud app.

Marvel told insomniac they could make a game on any hero they wanted and insomniac chose Spider-Man … Sony published it to make it exclusive and bought the company a year later. @@ThePhenomf4 They don’t. In the 90’s Marvel had financial trouble and sold them exclusive rights to movie and movie merch on a conditional contract that can expire if Sony doesn’t meet the terms. Marvel still owns spider man and decides for all other media. Since then many Spider-Man games were made for other consoles … a lot by activision. Spider man actually appeared on a Nintendo exclusive game recently. Also marvel told insomniac they could choose any hero. Oh and Sony recently had financial trouble and sold the merch rights back to marvel so that’s why Disney made the toys for the Sony spider verse movie. The tv cartoons are made by marvel and broadcast on Disney networks etc. It’s a common misconception that Sony owns Spider-Man … they want to be associated as much as possible with the character so they published insomniacs game to make it exclusive … they paid crystal dynamics for exclusivity to Spider-Man dlc …they will do anything to tie him as much as possible to them.

The Legend of Zelda Rift In Time is my random prediction of the game name that is going to not be right. I think so them showing Link’s(?) hand and having one be all magic and phantom like and avoiding his face it leads me to think that perhaps something happens after breath of the Wild that splits Link between times and dimensions. I think half of his face may show this phantom like appearance too and this mutation will be part of what gives him power to travel through solid rock and to manipulate time as well as extending his aerial capabilities allowing him to glide longer. I think with the aerial focus it will have some possible connection to Devali because of the Devali’s Gail power which let you shoot up into the sky and glide around in Breath of the Wild. I was trying to think of what words are beyond, tangential, or related to “Breath”. I thought exhale, respiration (not gonna happen with COVID and also a bad name), inhale, exhale, time flies. I don’t know but speculating on the title and what possible words would be fun although the examples I gave here are terrible. I like having this tease knowing the game likely isn’t coming until Holiday 2022 in my estimation. I think Nintendo wants to ride out this coming holiday season with the existing Nintendo Switch having a huge price advantage over new competition and a large install base and then announce the Switch Pro and hopefully show some new games running on it along with retroactively enhanced games.

I think one thing the gaming community may learn from things like the fail of a launch with Cyberpunk and the initial poor showing of Halo Infinite is that you can’t rush greatness. Of course we want to play awesome news games all the time. There’s an insatiable desire and at the same time a large disconnectedness between developers work and gamers enjoyment. The amount of work going into triple A games is insane even with large teams. Even given the best resources and lots of time it can still take a strong vision and a lot of attempts to achieve greatness by modern standards. I think the further into console generations we get the more detailed out games tend to be and so the criticisms of such games become greater. As a life long Nintendo fan I’ve always been of the mantra that gameplay are more important than graphics and I still hold that true though obviously prefer the best of both worlds. I will be getting Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 remakes on Switch and with this game like many other Switch ports there is no only a visual and performance downgrade/compromise but also an added delay in development. Then even with Nintendo triple A games that don’t have the industry leading graphics like Breath of the Wild and Breath of the Wild 2 or the long awaited Metroid Prime 4 these games take so much inspiration and damn hard work to make. I guess what I’m getting at is it’s good to have some expectations for when a game may release but in my opinion it’s better to wait and launch with a solid game smoothed out. I think it’s better for the devs and although they may not admit it it’s better for gamers. Games getting released with loads of bugs like Cyberpunk shoot their load early and even when they get patched the damage is done by initial reception even if they create the vision that lives up to the amount of hype surrounding that game. Same for that No Man’s Sky game which apparently got a ton of hype and a botched launch followed by solid patches but not able to recoup the damages within the mainstream gamer world of those less in tune with updates. I think having games ironed out is also way better for reviewers because when a game is patched, updated, and has all DLC and expansions it can DRASTICALLY change the score or review perspective on a game. I felt this way about the Witcher 3 Complete Edition on Switch. Some reviewers panned the performance hitched at launch but CDPR ended up doing multiple patches for performance and also post processing for motion blur, game, anti-aliasing, bloom, and other options gamers on more powerful hardware are more accustomed with. On top of that the entire giant game was fit on a single Nintendo Switch cartridge. You can technically play the entire Witcher 3 without too big of a problem right out of the box and it’s only enhanced with the patches. I wish I could write for IGN. Anyways love the show and I’m hyped for e3. It’s also been my dream of many dreams to attend e3 from a young age when I was watching Nintendo’s early 2000s streaks showing off the Gameboy Advance and DS. To be a fly on the wall at a true conference would make my year. Even beyond COVID as e3 has become more of a consumer focused show than so much as a direct B2B networking show for stockholders and has opened the doors to the public outside of the press was already a major change. I hope it comes back proper in 2022. I think there is a tremendous value of that in person experience for large and smaller developers having that personal experience and stories to tell. It’s more personal and an experience of living in the moment of the biggest game announcements.

Metroid Dread was huge! Personally Nintendo conference was “A” Tier on that announcement alone. Also like that Nintendo had actual release dates with games releasing within 6 months. Please stop announcing games 2+ years in advance.

Seriously, they had actual gameplay for almost every game and just Metroid Dread being a real thing coming out in a few short months made the whole weekend for me. Microsoft’s was great but they showed so many “in game engine” trailers that it’s hard to judge a game like Starfield that’s a year and a half away. Nintendo filled out the rest of the year and when you look back at their 2021 they will have had a console exclusive pretty much every month. Microsoft has a game a month coming out on gamepass themselves, but I mean Sony has an indie game in Kena and MAYBE Death Loop and Ghostwire Tokyo and that’s it for 2021. Doubt Horizon will come out this year, although it would behoove them to not get steamrolled by Breath of The Wild once again.

Yeah and they had tons of gameplay … and over 4 hours of live gameplay with treehouse. Lots of variety and out of almost 30 games I think 2 were next year. I think Xbox did pretty well considering they recently bought all these studios … I feel like given time they have some interesting stuff. Devolver hilarious as always!

I feel starfield should have shown some gameplay. Right now I can't really get too excited. Redfall is going to be interesting, but I'm kinda sad they are not working on Dishonored 3. They set up a very clear hint that Dishonored 3 will be in the northern area of the empire, so I hope that will get used eventually.

Graphically you wouldn't really be able to tell the fullest extent if you're watching on through KZbin anyway but I do have to agree the graphics haven't changed dramatically but it to me wasn't really a concern for me I just want a solid Halo game a return to form and a cohesive story and merging of old (Bungie) and new (343 studios).

I'm glad people enjoyed the Nintendo show, I normally do but this year's show didn't excite me at all. BotW2 didn't wow me whatsoever, the original reveal looked so much better and this was sadly bland. To each their own. Enjoy your gaming!

Yuh I wish more people in the industry took that into consideration when they're talking about where to spend your money. I mean at one point Justin told people to go buy warioware without thinking about it at all ... I never buy a game before weighing up the value proposition.

Stop with the, "I will be shocked and upset if Elder Scrolls 6 is a Microsoft exclusive. That is like a public utility at this point" or "I think it is important to point out that not everybody owns both consoles". MICROSOFT ISN'T FORCING ANYBODY TO BUY A PLAYSTATION. People have a right to choose. If they choose to buy only a PS5. Then they have choices. Buy an XBox, PC, subscribe to Gamepass and play it via XCloud OR DON'T PLAY IT AT ALL. Enough with the, "It was multiplat" nonsense. Microsoft owns the IP. And they are not beholden to Sony or die hard Playstation fans. I don't see any of you people saying, "Street Fighter is a public utility at this point". Or "Final Fantasy is 3rd party and is multiplat". GROW UP!!! Microsoft wants as many players as they can get on their platform. By releasing their biggest games onto the Playstation is not going to help achieve that goal.
