A fire needs 3 things to burn. Heat, fuel and oxygen. You’ve tried taking away the oxygen, you can’t take away the fuel (obviously, because it’s burning). But try removing the heat by submerging the matchens in liquid nitrogen to see if you can put them out. I don’t know what will happen but i really want to find out. Edvin Lindberg unfortunately, liquid nitrogen would not only minimize heat, but it would also eliminate oxygen by displacing it with sublimated nitrogen :(
