El mismísimo genio que tuve la oportunidad de ver en Lima, siendo un niño de 4 años cuando vino hace 1000 años a conducir a la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional del Perú. Mis padres, admiradores de su música, me contaron que yo estaba parado, fascinado, tomado firmemente de la butaca delantera con los ojos, y oídos, completamente abiertos.

No apology needed. I enjoyed hearing this now-rare suite (still love the complete ballet with the quiet ending) and noticing details that the composer brought out in his brisk interpretation. He really pushed the trombones at 17:00, didn't he? I'm surprised that the USSR invited him back during the height of the Cold War, given his earlier political criticisms.

@@KaupSeli yeah, I don't understand all the different lengths of this piece, even with full symphony orchestras playing it. Did Stravinsky compose different versions ? I know there's something like the 1947 version but I'm hardly an expert on this stuff.

@@willieluncheonette5843 I think it comes down to the conductors interpretation, especially when it comes to Stravinsky. I’ve heard versions of Rite of Spring that are faithful to the 30-35 minute mark and others that pump it out in 25. It seems Igor just wants to get this show over with to me lol. Or he was bored by it at this point considering it was half a century old at this point.
