Words like "rhythm" & "tempo" don't capture what is happening in a performance like this. A musician like Igor Zhukov is an artist of Time ... his plastic shaping of Time is his secret alone, his revelation. Only an impregnable originality can do this.

The only two people who played Scriabin so lyrically and colorfully were Morton Estrin and Vladimir Sofronitsky. Paul Badura also had a sublime playing of Scriabin Piano Concerto. Igor Zhukov was also one of the greatest musicians of time, rivaling these of Richter and Gilels.

I treasure this CD - especially due of the third Chopin Sonata - very much. His playing is heartfelt, poetic without surficial fluff and of great grandeur where it's natural. His approach to the second sonata reminds me of Michel Blocks mesmerizing recording which I recommend just as much. Thank you for sharing.

It might be wise to put up a recording of this. And next to it a recording of Scriabin plays his own composition. Have got or heard the Medtner piano concerto by this artist. Its really excellent.
