I am convinced this is a song about when a chicken lost its parents to a chef and so the chicken on its quest for revenge makes a deal with the devil to temporarily become a dark souls boss while in its moments of absolute sorrow. This deals price was it was permanently placed into a Zelda game as nothing more then a mockery of its former self but equally unkillable and terrifying to those who dare challenge its immortal 8bit glory.

Low key the most incredible thing in this album, (and ergo contemporary music as a whole I think) 1:30, when the pure rhythmical chaos [7/8 | 11/8 | 7/8 | 7/8 | 7/8 | 11/8 | 7/8 | 7/8 | 11/8...] suddenly crystallizes into a traditional [6/8] waltz and you're just "wait, was it like that all along?" and you can just keep vibing until Patrick the hen goes 'kot kot' at 2:57 and the full-blown asymmetry is back in 8bits. Dude that is *genius*! do these things forever please! do 7/8 and 9/8 into 8/8 next! Call it "Caviar d'aubergine"

I'm happy to inform you that this music's origins are in the Bulgarian folklore and a traditional dance called "ratchenitza". It has the rare 7/8 rhytm and IGORRR have captured it brilliantly. I don't know how they did it without inviting a Bulgarian for the recordings but it's fucking hard to recreate this type of music, especially in this sense. IGORRR, Bulgarians thank you for the igorrrized ratchenitza!
@DreamPurpleFloyd7 жыл бұрын
If you watch the making of the album, you'll see he sourrounded himself with really talented musicians like an accordeonist and a saxophonist. He probably picked guys that know a lot about Bulgarian music !
@S3lvah7 жыл бұрын
What other properties of ratchenitza are there in this song apart from the 7/8 time signature? It isn't _that_ rare by itself - listen to the right prog rock/metal groups ( *cough* Symphony X *cough* ) and you'll probably hear it almost as often as 4/4 haha
@Zombot0127 жыл бұрын
Rachenitza and Bulgarian folklore music as a whole are normally played with an accordion (almost always included) and a wide variety of brass instruments - in this case, they used saxophone. It's not just about the 7/8 time signature, for sure ;-)
