Very nice job, not much of a diference in sound between the two ,for the price, i would go for a pair of 500s. Can you do a comparison on the Volfram and another 1176?

Sans level match impossible de deviner la couleur du compresseur (qui est un élément important d'un LA2A) malheureusement, sinon le 500 se défend carrément bien je trouve !

There's less than 1.5dB difference at 04:30 so you should be able to work out the difference between the units, if any.

Do you actually prefer the 19 version? Is the price difference worth it?

It dépends of what you are looking for.. i use the 500 on bass and rack on vocals. Specially for huge compression. The rack is more transparent. It’s a matter of taste ;)

@@sebastiencamhi thank u very much for the info bro, but do you actually mean that the racks’ compression is transparent? Meaning that despite alot of gain reduction u dont hear the compression happening? Or the color ( saturation) harmonic distortion is more transparent?

Yes for sure i still have this two unit in my studio and i use them on absolutely every bass and vocals

​@@sebastiencamhi Thank you for responding, really appreciate it! :D I was curious because I was comparing it to the Golden Age Project Comp-2A. The Golden Age one is also great, but the stock tubes make the midrange and lows a bit pinched, so it needs a tube swap to sound more 'ballsy' like the original LA-2A (MixbusTV made a video about it if you're curious). The One LA 500 sounded like it didn't need a tube swap, so I wanted to be sure. Again, thank you!

in my experience La2a sounding is not only a question of tube but it also depend of the optocell. The Igs has a T4Bx! and it sounds really great! I never heard the gold age so.. just a tips when you compare compressor check how they sound on big compression ( more than 7 db ) @@aleksamrkela831

@@sebastiencamhi The optocell affects tone? As far as I recall, it should only determine the attack and release time of the compressor. Interesting. And once again, thanks for the tips!

Effectivement différences assez subtile. J'ai tendance à préférer le rack sur la basse et le 500 sur la voix. Content d'avoir le 500 !! Merci Seb

c"est marrant parce que je préfère l'inverse lol j'aime bien la torsion sur la basse. et j'aime bien garder le coté plus clean sur la voix. après ca dépend du contexte et de plein de choses.. il m'est arrivé d'inverser. mais oui la différence est subtile!

Je préfère le côté un peu plus (vraiment un peu hein) claquant du rack sur la basse et moins le côté un peu plus baveux sur le 500, alors que sur la voix je trouve que le 500 apporte un chouette côté In your face.. Bon c'est vraiment par rapport à tes exemples précis et ça dépend du contexte comme tu dis. J'aime beaucoup mon 500 sur les basses 😉

Salut, pour toi quelle est la différence entre le rack et le 500 au niveau son ? (si tant est qu'il y en ai une)

Salut, la différence est assez minime surtout si la lunchbox utilisée pour le format 500 est assez puissante ( car beaucoup sont sous alimentées, a commencer par les api ) . La différence Se fait sentir surtout sur les grosses compressions ( au dessus de. 7 db gr ) le rack reste plus droit et neutre la ou le 500 va commencer a tordre. ce qui n’est pas toujours une mauvaise chose bien au contraire , je le fais quasi tout le temps sur la basse.
