I've seen a lot of people theorize that 1:39 is representing hanging but one interesting thing I haven't seen people mention is that the instrumental for this part is the start of the song reversed.

WAIT! How haven't I noticed the song being reversed? But, what could it mean is the question.. But yeah, a lot of people theorise it's hanging, since of the connection with Sayori from DDLC

Oh yeah looking at ddlc when sayonara plays backwards when you find sayori hanging out
Is it just me or is it legit comedic how happy this sounds meanwhile my subtitles say otherwise 😭

It thematically makes sense because it’s about a depressed girl desperately trying to hide her depression from others and remain “cute and cheerful”. The melody is cute but there’s some audible dissonance in it, making it the music version of a forced smile. It’s based on the character Sayori from Doki Doki Literature Club
I can't stop watching this video, for 4 years now, it's truly my favourite song, it describes feelings so godly, idk how to say, but this song kinda changed my perception of life and "sadness" I'll say, tbh each times I watch it, I find more things and more things in it, I understand lyrics I didnt at first, I truly think i'm the no1 fan of this song, I can't pass a day without hearing it, When it pops in my playlist I re-listen to it at least 3 times, it's not a phase, it's a part of me. I feel kyu-kurarin.
