The BK9 is my absolute favorite camp knife. Mine came with the smaller knife in the sheath also, so I don't need to bring any other knives for camping. I also bought the micarta handles, although they've seen so much use that they are now very much darker. A lanyard is pretty important to tie around the end hole for safety just in case you lose it chopping down small trees.

Nice realistic review man, finally someone who says it how it is! Let's face it most of us really just screw around with these things (I'm guilty of) and we don't really need too many knives but we still want them. To make it further sad let's say due to my geographic location (and salary) accessing one of the really good ones is not all that possible, so I basically just watch these videos of the same thing like an idiot. Recently I purchased though (almost by error) an Ontario RAK so enough to say I'm excited and let's see how this thing comes out, I hope it doesn't break as soon as I try it or else you'll see an adult crying. Peace!

Being the owner of a BK-2 I do have to agree that their utility seems to end pretty much after batoning through wood and prying. I don't regret getting one but it is a constant reminder to me "I don't need more of this type in my collection". Something like a reliable Mora companion, spyderco endura or benchmade 940 has always been significantly more useful for practical things. For just about anything practical that needs an edge nowadays depending on where I'm going I grab either a folding saw or a small axe. I do have to give the BK-2 this though! It was an excellent paperweight once to keep paper from flying off the table. So it does have at least three uses that I discovered.
