For the backpacker and hikers an ultra portable camp light it pretty useful. The Nitecore LA10 is a good choice for an ultra light portable backpackers lantern. It only takes up a little bit of space, and it can be used as a flashlight, a candle. or lantern- because of it's pop up built in diffuser. My review covers runtimes, brightness levels, lantern comparisons, and operation demonstration. This portable source of light is one of the most valuable pieces of gear in your pack. If you like outdoor gear review, please subscribe to my channel. No one does more comprehensive flashlight reviews on KZbin than I do.
To check out the official details and manual, check out Nitecore's official website.

At 4:10 you said 3.9 volts. For an AA? You're funny as usual. Or you weren't being funny but really made a mistake, thinking it was a Li-ion battery?

You know what’s weird? Less than two weeks apart I get this question from two people. The video has been out for years and rarely gets any comments- and up until now no one has ever pointed it out, or I would have added a correction in the description. Yes it’s a mistake. I should have said 1.5 volts.

Just scrolled down the comments. Saw it. Asking where you got the 3.9V eneloops. And yeah you're the only reviewer who runs actual times on these lights. Appreciate all the effort for all these dimensions. Cheers from the Philippines bro!

Given the IPX rating and the runtimes, I'm more partial to compromising a bit of size and the magnetic grip and packing a Thrunite T10 with the diffuser wand tip. Nice review, brah, really dig the humor and thorough information in a compact package.

+Gunner193 fair enough. A better waterproof rating in my opinion is necessary for a rugged outdoor light.

Excellent video, and very factual for useful info. I like most of Nitecore products, though Olight flashlights are particularly good and well made, especially their 3200 lumen R50 Pro Seeker.

Why can’t they make the LR12 like this too? I like the LR12 because it uses a 18650 battery but hate that flashlight lantern combo crap.

Good review, I suppose it is ok for inside a tent. The white light is a bit harsh, a yellow tint is easier on the eyes and better for reading etc. Maybe Nitecore will change the diffuser.

Hi. Why are you comparing this light at the 68lumen level and not 135lumens against the other lantern
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
+Moon Buggy Hi yes, good question. If you noticed earlier in the video where I said my figures (estimates) and Nitecores are side by side, it shows Nitecore says 135 lumens but my testing only showed 68. And then later in the video where I do comparisons those are my tested figures (shown earlier in the video), and not the manufacturers. I am one of the very few youtubers who actually fully test all of my lights, and if you've watched any more of my videos from about mid 2014 on they all follow this formula.

Might not be the best place to ask this, but you seem to mess with batteries enough.. Where do you get your 18650's at? I'm hearing a lot of different stuff from a lot of different brands and idk who to trust.
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 7 жыл бұрын
Panasonic, Sanyo, LG, and Sony make decent batteries. I usually order from Illumn.com or Mtnelectronics.com. All of the batteries they carry, even if they aren't the brands I mentioned above are good. I usually order from MtnElectronics though. At the bottom of every page they have some info about each battery and what they're good for.

hmm it looks ok, but its not really much more than a regular flashlight with a good diffuser. yes, versatility is good. but honestly i would prefer a lantern like the fenix cl25r, much more real lantern options with that one.

+Gary Willis so I got a chance to use it for real camping twice this weekend. The low mode is plenty as a dome light in the top of the tent. If you need a lot more light than 10 or 30 lumens... And you need it several nights... Then keep looking.

Translucent aluminum 💀
@damaylaphoenix1155
@damaylaphoenix1155 6 жыл бұрын
translucent isn't affordable ? why would you want a clear lens. the object is to illuminate a wide area with soft light. the frosted lens acts as a diffuser. imagine being in a tent and something making noise outside. you have the clear lens . your turn it on. and look at it. 140 unfiltered lumens hit you in the eye. now you look out the tent you cant see nothin cuz you temporary blinded yourself. get it?
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
It was a joke.... there is no such thing as translucent aluminum. You're reading way too much into the comment. To be fair I should have said opaque. I understand how lenses and diffusers work- I have dozens upon dozens of flashlights, lanterns, and headlamps- many of which are reviewed on the channel.
@AdvancedKnifeBro
@AdvancedKnifeBro 6 жыл бұрын
Also translucent doesn’t mean clear. I take back my second guessing- translucent is the appropriate word. Look up the word. But also- it was a joke.
@damaylaphoenix1155
@damaylaphoenix1155 6 жыл бұрын
my bad , I thought you where talkn about the lens and was trying to bash nitecore. but still why would you want a translucent aluminum body ? than it could not be use as a flashlight. If you need more light just get the nitecore lr10 . PS. they could make a translucent polycarbonate body like the EA42 that just as strong as aluminum .
