I lived in Hawaii as a young girl and brought the spirit of it home with me when my parents moved back to Kentucky. My children are even named Magnum and Leilani. Recently, I have been looking for a workout program for myself and am thinking that I would enjoy the art form of learning hula and getting exercise too. I am really looking forward to learning hula and perhaps even my daughter will learn!

@malenachristine6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynn, I've done the previous two dances and love it! I'm from Maui and grew up doing hula but had moved to Australia 8yrs ago and I haven't been able to find any halau/classes. Since finding your channel a few days ago, I have been watching your videos and practicing non stop. Thank you for making this channel and allowing me, although half way across the world, to still be connected to to Hawai'i by the dance of hula. I can't wait to learn all of the dances you share and grow in hula as the dances increase in difficulty and complexity to share the history of Hawai'i!
@iHulaHawaii6 жыл бұрын
Aloha MalenaChristine - sorry for the delay in responding. Oh, you're a local gal living in Australia! I really appreciate your response and sharing how you are enjoying my channel and how it's filling your desire to learn the hula and connecting you back to the islands. Did you dance hula at all while you were living here?
@linaimua55715 жыл бұрын
Aloha e Lynn and MalenaChristine, I just found your channel Lynn. What a blessing. Thank you! Like MalenaChristine I grew up in Hawai’i and moved to Australia with my ʻohana almost three years ago. I haven’t been able to find any hulau’s or hula classes here in Western Aus also, so mahalo for creating your channel so that we can dance hula. Also, It’s so nice to see other people from Hawaiʻi here in Australia. xx cheers 😊🤙 If you’d like to connect with me on instagram: @hawaiians.abroad

I hope it’s ok that I teach this to my first graders- our Classroom theme is “Super Surfers” but I want to bring the deeper meanings of Ohana, ‘Ike Loa, and Kuleana. I also think it is a beautiful art form, and would like to educate my students about many cultures and their contributions.
