This is my first time listening to Ikwerre language, I'm from Imo state. This is my first time listening to this language and I love the dialect. The funny thing is I understood the language so well about 90%. This is just another Igbo dialect. She is admonishing ikwerre folks to be proud of their language. Who said Igbos can't understand Ikwerre? Forget the divisions created by politicians, these people are the same....they are all Igbos

How do you intend to preserve a language that you have limited to a small group of people? The more Ikwere is distancing itself from the greater Igbo language, the more the language (dialect) is dying,and at the end of the day,you will find out that you have actually killed what you want to preserve.

True but the difference here is that Cantonese and mandarin aren't even remotely intelligible. Where as I understood almost everything this woman said and my Igbo is poor growing up in America. Funnily enough even though they can't really understand each other in China they recognize themselves all as "Han Chinese" knowing they have the same origin. Igboid groups are lost and can't do the same. Everyone recognizes you guys as Igbos except yourselves, its quite sad...

@@orondahwali5852 Obigbo, Ndoni, Umuma, Ohadji, Egbema, Ndoki, Azumini and many were ceded to Rivers because of oil. They do not belong there because they are afraid of what has been happening to them just as in Obigbo. Though many Igbos understand Ikwerre, the nasal sound is not good.

Isuoma literally mean "good speech". It's the opposite of what you're thinking. If you could understand Ikwerre you would know. No doubt Ikwerre is an Igboid language but it's not a "dialect" any more than Cantonese is a "dialect" of Chinese.
