Yes, it exists. But most of the students are not aware of it. For students belonging to SC/ST category, the tuition fees for the semester is waived off. For students belonging to OBC/General category, various state, as well as national scholarships, are applicable. Apart from that, the institute offers Merit Cum Means scholarship for the candidates with a weak financial background which is given to around 10% students from the batch. This includes a waiver of the whole tuition fees, as well as a monthly sum of Rs. 1000 for expenses. If you are a student of IIITM, then if you miss the chance to apply for the Merit Cum Means scholarship in the first month of your admission, you will regret for coming years. As it is given only once, and the student who gets it is benefited for the coming 4/5 years, and no other cases are considered. To apply for this scholarship, contact the Deputy Registrar of the institute as soon as possible. The scholarship is given on the basis of JEE-Mains rank, better the rank, more is the chance of getting it.
