Getting 9.3 Cgpa from IIT Kanpur and even that from Computer Science is not very easy. The pressure is as much as EQUAL getting into top 300 rankers from. IIT JEE. He must have been a very nerdy guy.

So not all the marks are kept for Interview. It is divided into many criteria like CAT Score, GD, Academics, etc. So one has to cover up on other fronts for a not so good interview.
