respected sir, i am nikita wamne studing in 3rd year B. tech. doing preparation for gate 2020 i jaust want to know that as you have asked one question in this video like when we will use PFR and when we will use MFR ? i have read from book that for positive order reaction we will use the PFR and for negative order reaction we will use MFR because for +ve order reaction PFR will give the more conversion as compare to MFR for the same volume and for _ve order reaction MFR required less volme than PFR for the same conversion so what should i say if someone will ask me either in terms of residence time , temperature or in terms of order

In terms of Residence time: PFR is preferred when residence time is very low (high rate of reaction), MFR is preferred when residence time is high (low rate of reaction) In terms of Temperature : MFR is preferred when the reaction is highly Exothermic, PFR is preferred when the reaction is not highly exothermic (in general cases) because in plug flow it is not possible to maintain isothermal conditions (i.e equal temperature at every point)
