Dear All, A book based on this course is now available. It includes these video lectures as well as solved questions and problems. It is titled "Physics of Materials, Essential Concepts of Solid-State Physics"

Thank you very much for a very nice and clear lecture! What makes it easy to understand is that you go though it on the blackboard - at my university the professors are lazy to write on blackboard and they just go through it on slides...

Really clear explanation. Although from my past learning I thought that b1 =2*pi*(a2*a3)/V, similarly for b2 and b3. In other words b1,b2 and b3 (consequently all k space points) are scaled by 2* pi from not using 2*pi in the expression. It doesn't change any conclusions, but if you use 2pi then you can say that exp(i.K.R)=1 since K.R=2*pi*integer. If you don't use pi then you have to say that exp(i.2pi*K*R)=1.
