I didn't expect so many people to die tbh! I Love Gabriel Afolayans acting, his facial expressions reminded me of the telco commercial he featured in. Didn't expect Oby to be so feisty. That moment when she fought the other girl in the stream was hilarious 😂 I totally agree with the opening montage, it got me very interested in the movie. Loved the use of different unique angles! Also Love that Tana and Ruby spoke Igbo, Yoruba & English. It was annoying that Jamiu wanted to hold all the diamonds even after all that had happened, like who made him the custodian/manager of the diamonds. I'm glad Omoba survived o, because otherwise the children will carry so much guilt and possibly face the kings wrath and the town would have been in mourning. Interesting how most of the tweets I was seeing about the movie was just people complaining about her throwing the diamonds in the river 😒

Any movie that has to do with diamonds, heads must roll. I like the way Oby's character ended it all, it just had to be that way. Sometimes, people aren't ready for money and power. For me, this isn't really the best of storylines/movies from Kunle Afolayan but not bad.

This movie did not do it for me at all. I was so hyped to see it but I stopped watching when Kasali ransacked the teens' hideout. The opening scenes of the movie were so good that I thought I would be hooked but it felt so draggy and could barely hold my attention afterwards. Then the inconsistency of buying 4 iPhones (high end models even) with 1.5m naira abi how much? And still having enough to buy clothes was plain ridiculous. 1 high end iPhone will cost nothing less than 1m naira. That irked me so much, I kinda switched off a bit after that scene. And why even go back after cashing in on the first set of diamonds? I couldn't wrap my head around that. Maybe cos they were kids sha. I guess I may not have given the movie a fair chance but it felt way too draggy at a point. To Jamiu leaving his phone, I guess he did so to avoid questions of how he could afford it if he met anyone. Overall, the movie sounds interesting from your review but it just couldn't hold my attention and I doubt I will ever go back and finish it.

Ronks!!! First of all lemmie say it’s an honour to have you in my comments and to know you actually took time to watch one of my reviews. I’m touched! Thank you. 🤗 Regarding the iPhones, they were London used ones. Not brand new phones. I think you didn’t give the film enough of a chance sha but I also know a couple of other things in the movie especially towards the end would also have irked you. It’s all good sha. At least you have it a shot and now you know the general gist of how it ended from my review. Have a great week ahead. 🚀

Well i think the story they told the police wasn't too elaborate or just to move the film forward, it's a planned story among all of them since there's no one to go against their story anyway, the chinese man definitely want to dig more diamonds or treasures in the land so he doesn't want anyone else to know, and the kids also didn't want their parents or anyone to know the real story, so they had to plan a story and then stick to it So it's a story they all can plan to tell anyone or even the police when they go out

I did catch some of the nuances too. for eg when Jamiu was praying at the mosque without his dad then later to find out why his dad wasn't really attending prayers because of the death of his wife. That was a nice touch. The dynamics between the kids is well thought out too.@@titoabumere

@@titoabumere You are very welcome Tito, thank you for your contribution to Nollywood. I think I anticipated this movie in a way that scared me, you know fear of hype, so much that I did not do a countdown on twitter like I did for Gang of Lagos. This movie which I have seen twice as of today, was a spectacular representation of why I will always rate Kunle Afolayan. Although not everyone agrees, but I really appreciated how it started slow, it made the second and third act of the story feel wholesome . I really liked the location and set design . I loveddddd the soundtrack and overall Sound Design. I particularly loved how the children performed and how the story felt so plausible. Additionally the parents all did a fantastic job, the extras too were awesome. Gabriel Afolayan and Tana Adelana were my favessss.❤️❤️❤️ It has been a while a Nollywood movie made me scream at my screen and this one made me shout at the screen and I did a personal standing ovation in my house. At the end of it all, Nollywood is home and everyone should see Ijogbon

I rated it a 3 ... It was just okay for me and contrary to other opinions, it was predictable for me and rather confusing to put a timeline to the movie. I found it educative though, prior to the movie ,i didn't know Oyo state shared boundaries with Benin Republic. I loved that it was shot in Oyo-Oke too. Yemi Solade and Gabriel Afolayan were my best acts, loved the energy!!!Glad to see more roles opening up for Ruby's "kind of acting". If this was some other production I might have rated it higher, I kept it at 3 ( what i had in mind was a 2.5) because the technical aspect was too good to be ignored. I should probably level my expectations for a Kunle Afolayan productions, he doesn't feed me well anymore. I just couldn't get past some potholes,it required deductive and inductive reasoning; like how their yoruba was just there, and the English quite clean. I reasoned that a school principal and a maybe missionary reverend. The oba of Oyo-oke spoke normal Yoruba! The audacity to kidnap a whole prince; lets even assume the boys didn't report because they didn't want the existence of the diamonds to be revealed.... I didn't enjoy it that much, to be coming up with all the 'shalaye' i was coming up with. Particularly since i lost my bet with my husband too. Anyways,Thanks for the review 😀

I don’t know if it’s only me but I was kind of bored stiff watching this, if not for the technical aspects and display of culture, I could have sworn it isn’t a KAP at all. I feel it’s too weak/watery compared to his other masterpieces. I love the moral/life lessons passed across but I also feel the magnitude of the story was way beyond secondary school kids especially living in Oyo-Oke (village). The children going to Ibadan to shop for phones and outfits is off. Selling diamonds 💎 to someone as powerful as the chief, who trades with small children in the village? Elders are custodians of morals and watchful over ALL children like theirs. The four going to Ibadan to shop was totally not realistic. How did they?????? They weren’t portrayed as children from I don’t care homes to be sincere. How does the prince leave for Ibadan without the king, queen, or his men knowing? I will also say with your enthusiasm l expected a 4J but alas I saw 3.5😂😂. Let me sha say the truth Tito, I took many breaks before I could finish the movie🙈🙈🙈🙈. Thanks 🙏🏽 for sharing your thoughts on this as usual and you definitely remain the peak of the pack.
