A cool thing to do with MODO is set a slider or MOD wheel to pluck location, where on the string one plucks/picks/slaps. A good way to sound less like a keyboardist and really get into the bass engine

A bit pricey for MODO Bass 1 owners, but I must say all these features are a nice update. I like the fact that they improved the picked bass sound. That was something I always felt sounding a bit too artificial. Will definitely upgrade when they'll put this on sale.

Was thinking the same. I own the original Modo but for $149 (crossgrade) price is a bit steep!

What about slides ? Does it have?

@@ChrisKeyman No, you still have to use their slide articulation (between two notes), or use the pitch wheel (set maybe around 12 semitones). I'd have nothing against that, but the problem is the result still doesn't sound good, even when you listen to it in a mix. It sounds too much like a synth bass with a weird tone. My opinion is that they should program a group of pre-made slides (tempo synced would be great) that emulates all the noises and nuances of a finger sliding on strings and assign them to higher keys, like other bass VSTs, for quicker use.

Great walk through. I just bought this plus modo drums fir $99 each from Sweetwater. I couldn’t pass it up lol. I’ve been living the free bass they offer but I’ve been wanting the full set too. It’s the best bass snd drum instruments I’ve used imho

Great video, it really helped with my decision! Just a heads up, piezo is a type of pickup (piezoelectric). Usually used on acoustic instruments, but also used on electric guitars typically placed under or on the bridge. Nothing to do with picking.

#MODOBASS2 the grooves feature certainly helps it level the playing field with programs like ample sound and ezbsss. From first listening the tone seems to have improved as well from V1

Can it play lower then the E-string. For example If I program midi notes for a 5 or 6 string bass line will it just play them? Thanks 🤘 EDIT: Yes, you can select number of strings up to 6 string in the String tab. I hadn't fully watched the vid when I asked that😕

anyone here know whats wrong with this midi track im using for modo bass ? I basically just exported a guitar pro bass track but its playing notes that are on the left most side of the keyboard UI here on the screen. as a result the notes on that area is not actually playing how the heck do i fix that ?

For those who don’t have listened them yet, you’ll have a wonderful illustration of Pino’s MusicMan fretless + Octaver sound on the Paul Young albums, No Parlez (1983) and The Secret of Association (1985). Pure bass delight !

At 15:45 or so you mention it being simple, but EZ Bass follows chords and generates patterns that can keep up with basic chord edits. Is that in the works with #MODOBass2? (* Not a bot but...it is a good feature to check off by IK, I hope they check it off soon)

I upgraded from Sampletank 3 to 4 and in doing so i lost the excellent fretless bass of ST3, one of my all time favourites....great move IK! 😮 so.... i am looking at Modo 2 to give me that fretless sound....but i was far from impressed with what i heard here. Way too much initial "plunk" in the attack. And seriously: the basses sound very similar to each other. Are you playing with very low velocity perhaps?
