I'd love a comparison between these and their VSL counterparts for giggles. Pianoverse is a great poor man's VSL.

Great review and overview, really interesting and useful. I've been trying and really enjoying the Upright Y5 - one of the best virtual uprights I've come across.

I tried it for a month and hated it. There is something with the release, it is almost like without the pedal everything is staccato. I understand it is recorded dry, but there should still be some decay when a key is released. I really don't understand how others don't complain about this.

hahahah its the juicy part of it as most pianos do have decay but real piano dont have decay when played on staccato...though you can still give more decay to it if you play through space

Fantastic review. I’m not much of a keyboard player but could see how these would sound great in my songs as opposed to a few of the less spec’d piano sounds I have.

The usual problem I have with most vst pianos are the few dynamics especially at the loud playing you don t have much control..Do you think this is a step up ?

Cool review and nice to see more piano vst out. I think the fundamental sound is nice, but its not that nice for performing live. You can hear some stepping across the velocity spectrum. Also, the velocity editing is not that great as you can only make the curve more concave or convex, but you cant edited to make other kind of curves. The pianos start sounding cartoonish once you do fast runs on it. Its nice that theres a new software and i do look forward to what they do with this in the future. For now, Im probably going to end up with the vsl library.

I absolutely fu;;ing love this❤❤ thnx for the great video man i think this is what, keyscape should've done (having a bunch of great acoustic pianos) I mean they have a looooots of shitty keyboard sound that honestly 99% of the people never use 100 electric pianos and such But when it comes to acoustics, they offer a average yamaha c7 (not to mention that it's a modified piano and doesn't even sound like a real c7) My point is.. pianoverse kicked keyscape's ass in the acoustic pianos sampling category

Does this have sympathetic resonance? Would you say this is better than any of the NI pianos? I’m looking for excellent dynamic range.
@headsman2023
@headsman2023 Жыл бұрын
May i say my opinion.. The NI pianos are good enough for productions but not very good for playing, and the velocity layers are so limited with them Pianoverse on the other hand is a great sampled piano with a lot of samples per key (it's even different from a key to another) and the fx section is pretty insane But if you want the best sampled pianos in the market, and of course you don't have a budget limit (((they're like 500-700$ per piano💀))) check vsl pianos Those are breathtaking actually 4000 samples per key 11 mic positions A larger than life hall that they recorded the piano in
@hifimidi
@hifimidi Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Sympathetic resonance is a standard for piano sample libraries of this caliber. NI makes wonderful pianos. This has a more direct sound than them, in my opinion. Although I love the Gentleman and Grandeur a lot.

@@hifimidiI like the sound of the NI Noire, but I found it hard to work with due to the velocity response. Somehow you have to hit the keys super hard just to get a high velocity. The IK pianos seem like an upgrade, but I’m not so sure which one fits what I’m looking for best. (Jazz rock / fusion / etc.?) I guess it’s a good thing there’s a subscription option for trying them all.
@hifimidi
@hifimidi Жыл бұрын
The subscription option is a great way to try them out, but for jazz, rock, and fusion, I would say the Yamaha CFIII model is the best way to go. It's big, bright, and has a shimmery ring to it with plenty of bass as well.@@synchronizerman
@synchronizerman

@@hifimidiYes, I got the subscription and tried the Steinway and Bösendorfer so far. Actually, I really like the sound of latter on one of my test projects - very dark. I wish it were the model with the larger number of keys though. I haven’t tested the Yamaha yet.

@@briann5001 I sold it to a friend who still has it. I do miss it. As far as keys go, VPC1 is the superior controller, Nord Grand's keys are good, and my MKII has terrible keys for piano. it's Supposed to be some type of compromise for synth, organ, and piano.

This is giving me Pianoteq vibes.
@utubewillyman
@utubewillyman Жыл бұрын
Is that good or bad? I have Pianoteq and the pianos all sound a little artificial to me. I liked them at first (hence the purchase), but they started sounding "funny" to me after a few weeks. As you probably know, Pianoteq's are modeled and Pianoverse's are sampled. I do long for the day when we have a great-sounding piano that takes up 20MB instead of 20GB.
@kazbj9265
@kazbj9265 Жыл бұрын
@@utubewillyman Pianoteq is great but it is an added advantage if you know how to tweek the settings to meet your needs. But it can sound not so great if the wrong piano is used for the wrong situation and that is the only downside for me. But again it is highly customisable and itz realism is high. So it is a matter of preference. Personally I have multiple options like Addictive Keys, Ez keys, UVI sample pianos, Kontakt piano libraries. May Favourites are the UVI collections together with Ez Keys because they sit in my mix quite easily. This sounds to similar to Pianoteq which I already have so for that reason I will pass. Plus my piano library is already very rich so this is not a need for me

$99 is not overpriced for a 20GB piano. That’s sort of the standard. The fact that you have two options, purchase or rent, is good. More choices for the consumer.

@@hifimidi I agree - very keenly priced for the quality and depth of sampling. BTW, the installed size is closer to 32GB for the Yamaha CFIII, and over 33GB for the Bösendorfer 280VC. Excellent walkthrough and playing!

It's 130 euro per piano ... there are 8 of them (for now), it is a bit pricey to own them all. But yes, you are right that it is the standard price (ezkeys for example is in the same price ballpark).
