It must have been HUGE from South Africa to Uganda especially since Africa 🌍 is low in media connection. We don't always see 👀 what's happening in our continent but know a lot more about what's happening abroad.

I used to sneak into Odians Cinema in Jinja just to watch this song as an introduction. Sometimes the askari made us clean the hall before people entered as we watched that music on the big screen projectors. On Idhi day my mum used to give us money to go to Odians and watch Chuck Norriss, Bad Spencer, Clint East Wood, Bruce Lee, Ninja, Drunken Master, Disco Dancer by Amita Bachan etc. RIP mum and my cousin Karim Hajj.

not South Africa but West Central Africa. We headed South and you guys East hence there's some similarities in our languages. From the song the word nyama (for meat) is the same in all Southern African languages including Burundi, Rwanda and Congolese Lingala despite being spelt differently in others such as niama in Lingala.

It's South African Bubblegum music. Perhaps the most famous artist of such a genre was Brenda Fassie. This is music from the 80s, it was followed by Kwaito in the 90s. Some of the most famous Kwaito artists include Mandoza, with the crossover hit song Nkalakatha.
