Went fishing today! It was 54 degrees and cloudy and very windy. The really cool thing it was Christmas Eve. Yes, Christmas Eve. Caught a 4 pounder on a Googan Klutch. Then a White Swim jig with a Yum spring craw trailer. I fish it really slow on the bottom. Felt just a tick. Then it was off to the races. The fish fought hard then gave in. The first fish was landed at 3:20 pm. After what seemed a hundred casts adjusting to the wind. The four pounder nailed the lipless. At 5:00 pm. They started hitting the swim jig and craw trailer. Very slow cranking the swim jig. 4 two pounders. Then it was dark. I remembered. I have caughten a least one Bass every month for 3 years straight. Using Ike's technics and ideas. Thank you Ike! You are a great teacher! I bank fish. Don't have time for a boat and all the time it takes to own and take care of it. At 61 with work and life it's easier. Just to load my SUV and hit the many ponds around the Indy area. Never fished after the fall.

I’ve got another way I like to add weight to mine. I upsize my hooks as well and then I like to take lead fly tying wire and wrap the shank of the front treble hook. On the big ones sometimes you have to wrap both hooks in order to make it work. Maybe this might help someone who is gun shy to drill their baits!

I think he drilled the lure so that lure has a cleaner look. Also, lead strips are not very good when left out in the sun.

Wire wrapped around the front hook is just as good and faster ... Test one bait ,then count the number of wraps on the hook shank .. its a dead on system
