This has been posted, but without the intro showing Tina & the Ikettes coming on stage, which in itself is a sight to see. Tight, hot version, steamrolling away.

This version is next level unbelievably awesome. It is so touching to me that when Tina left that monster Ike, one of her backup dancers (I can't remember her name, but I know she had a TV show about her restaurant) would always make sure Tina had enough money to eat, etc. when Tina was at a really low point. It made Tina cry, remembering what her friend did for her, when Tina had nothing to offer her back. That is female friendship at it's best. Be a girl's girl, it will always pay off spiritually and materially.

For all those interested in that period of Ike & Tina, I can recommend the comp "Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter" - it doesn't include any of the really big well-knowns, but in terms of hot funk it's way up there with James Brown's best, adding some of Ike's pop sensibility and groovy arrangements

Ike Turner do not get enough credit for all of his brilliance. He organized an entire band to include a female lead singer and mini girl group. The orchestrated the entire show, wrote the music, wrote the songs, and told them how to play & sing his songs. Ike Turner is the King of Rock n' Roll
@boastenandbraggin39474 жыл бұрын
He didn't write this Phil Spector did. Most of the songs that charted were remakes. Tina wrote nutbush. He was also known for stealing writing credits from the ikette's. He was good with the instruments but all of this wasn't him.
@a.b.sproductionsllc4 жыл бұрын
Boasten And Braggin Their really early songs which were hits were written by Ike, but they fell off between ‘64 until ‘66 even though they recorded a lot of songs and released a number of albums. When they recorded “River Deep Mountain High” written by Phil Spector which was a hit in Europe but didn’t do all too hot in the states that help them back on top because they started touring overseas and pretty much ended their Chitlin’ Curcuit status. And “River Deep Mountain High” album featured a few of Ike & Tina early hits re-recorded with a stronger sound. But by the late 60’s they were on the top of their game with hits recorded by other artist like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Sly and the Family Stone, and of course CCR with “Proud Mary” in 1971.
