I literally watched this happen live, I live across the lake and was casting off of my dock watching you guys sink in some homemade looking boats. The whole time I was thinking to myself, "man that looks like something Norm and Ayo would do." Good thing you guys didnt make it too far out cause there are gators in this lake. But i definitely appreciated the giggle during my after work dock casting session while i let my dogs out!

Norm if you'd only put the containers where I thought you were going to. The top of that bunk bead had a natural box where you would normally put the mattress with all those slats going across. Had you fit as many containers as you could in the rectangular space and held them in place with screws down thru those slats with their lids already on so that the lids were against those slats they'd have stayed in place. You would have also been able to sit or stand on all those slats with no worries of screws or nails poking/cutting you. I bet that would have worked for you as it lowered the center of gravity. You could have also filled the containers a 1/4 to a 1/3 full so that you balanced your "Boat" using water inside the containers as ballast. Aiyo simply needed a wider fridge like the $3500 double door model he was looking at but I understand him not wanting to spend that much of your money being your friend. All Mason would have had to do was buy a few of those containers to put at each end of his "Boat" wardrobe and one for the center to sit on. Secured them via screws from the outside of the wardrobe thru the containers holding them in place and he'd have easily had the best and cheapest build. Maybe he could have also been a little more diligent with his calking as well. Fun video of you kids being kids that had me really laughing hard at times... (Don't worry I can call you kids and mean no disrespect in doing so, I have sons older than you)...

I think I would have flex taped a couple of the plastic bins from norms boat and put it on each side of the fridge to stabilize it. That way you are spreading the weight over more area and wouldn't need to balance as much. It is a center of gravity issue rather than buoyancy. You can't balance because you have too little room for your weight and the area to find the center of gravity is too small. Being in water doesn't help either since it isn't a stable surface, and the center of gravity will shift. You are basically putting a dumbell vertically on top of a tight rope wondering why it keeps falling. Center of gravity is the same reason that Norm's boat didn't work either. Part of finding the center of gravity is where the weight of the object is. Most of the weight is very high (top heavy as Norm put it) and the base is too small. If he had put the mattress on the bottom bunk and sat there instead possibly avoiding the screws in the process, he likely would have been able to get out on the water. The weight would be much closer to the bottom, making it closer to the center of gravity thus making the boat more stable. Ayo tried this principle when he tried to sit inside the fridge, but the balance point was too small in his case as mentioned before. Mason's boat worked because he was at the bottom of the boat as well as having more surface area to work with. So, the center of gravity was much easier to achieve.
