I have happily shopped at IKEA, USA for more than 15 years. However, personally, I prefer furniture customized to my space in India- it’s easily available and very affordable to get it custom made from a carpenter. I also get fitted sheets sewn by my tailor for the gorgeous textiles available in India. Also, I have often wished I could actually carry back some beautiful pottery that I have seen at local artisan exhibitions- except that I obviously cannot carry pottery back home to USA. All in all, IKEA is a great place to shop abroad- durable, affordable and easy to assemble. I just somehow don’t fathom the craze in India. Maybe, exotic is always interesting.

If you read about Ikea India they tell you that a lot of the products are sourced from India.Don't forget that would include the supply chain.They employ a lot of Indians on decent wages.That also includes carpenters.So next time you shop there be positive and think what Ikea is bringing to India!

Those days carpenters vanished their works speaks for the quality and workmanship. Now a days all plywood and novaplan materials came and self assemble type came. Quality carpenters are not considered very sad

Carpenters are so costly, sometimes they take more than 50% of budget. Fine finishing is a dream if working on smaller budget, with Carpenters. I am also not fan of ready made furniture. But my experience telling me otherwise.

Everyone is not same, but my last carpenter taken 60000 RS as advance money for purchasing and all. Then just didn't do any work. I was in so much shock and frustation, I decided to purchase all things from IKEA. I was totally against foreign company, but alas. I didn't get honesty and finishing in my small budget. May be I will never believe any carpenter. Because we given advance money with all honesty.

Renu Linu .. Hi Renu! We used ‘Calcutta movers and packers’ to ship most of the heavy stuff from Hyd to BG. They are quite reasonable. Rest smaller things we stuffed it somehow in our car’s boot 😂

You have not shared any decor idea in this video, you have just shown some expensive items as very cheap . It was kind of Ikea ad. The bed linen and soft toys are available everywhere. Nothing special, and if you need to fit all the furniture on your own, that too is an overhead here. So it's not only costly but also cumbersome to assemble.

Hi ! Thank you. We actually shipped all the heavy items through a packer and mover called ‘Kolkata packer and mover’. They are quite reasonable. And the rest of the stuff we tried to fit in somehow in the boot of our car. We also drove down to Hyderabad. It wasn’t a good idea though, it was really tiring. I think the best would be to take a train and then ship all the things through a packer. Hope that’s helpful.
