SUPER HELPFUL! What size screws did you use to screw the cabinets together- when they are right next to each other?

I believe I used the ones ikea provides with the cabinets. If not I used some very similar that i had on hand only with a torx head. Just something short enough not to pierce all the way through. Hope that helps. 👍

@@MDCHOMES Thank you! I bought better screws for the hang rail and it made a world of a difference. Figured I should pick up a couple more Misc screws for the rest of the project.

I used grk construction screws for the rail and toggle bolts where studs weren’t accessible. Good luck on your project

What kind of flooring is that? We have Pergo laminate and from what I understand we shouldn't attach anything to it? So I think we'll have to cut out the flooring where the island is going to be..? Also, what distance to you leave between the island and other cabinets? :D thanks!

This is also pergo laminate. Attaching anything to it won’t do much good since this is a floating floor. In this kitchen i drilled through the flooring directly into the concrete below. I always like to lay the flooring first and have it under the cabinets. It seems quicker to me since you don’t have to make as many cuts to go around everything and if you ever change the cabinets there will be flooring there instead of a bare spot. I believe the island was a little over 40 inches from other cabinets to allow for a wheelchair if one was ever needed. 👍

Why not use the parts ikea offers for islands? They have floor anchor studs, Island top brackets, and back brackets they all connect to the base cabinets they offer
