Do the drawers roll out smoothly or do you have to really push pull? I hope this question makes sense..thanks

Depends in your floor. If you have wooden would it will go easier if you have carpet it would give more resistance but not to hard to open or close the drawers

Weird question maybe, but can you swap the drawers round? So that the big drawer is towards the foot of the bed, and the small one is near the headboard on both sides? We can't decide between the Brimnes and the Songesand bed frame. We are going to have bedside tables so won't be able to open the drawer closest to the headboard

Hard to say. Depend if you know what you doing or you are new to this. I have a comment on a similar bed someone did it in 7h. Good time for this one if you don't rush is 2.5-3h.
