Ikea Vilgot Office Chair

I bought two of the same chair. They have worked great, though like he said, the wheels don't roll easily when noone is sitting in the chair. I wonder if it's meant as a safety feature to keep from accidentally rolling too fast?

The swivel controls tilt tension, meaning how easily the back goes back. You pull it in/out to control if the back moves at all. Nice review. Especially like the laid back, yet informative format.

kazora1001 The chair is still going strong, the only problem with the wheels is that they are a little stiff, when not sitting on the chair it is a little hard to move it around but when you are sitting on it the chair moves freely. Hope that helps.

I can't work out how to tilt it back again. I had it tilting right back before, then I raised it and set it back down and now it isn't tilting back as far nor with the same ease. Any help on how to tilt it as far back as possible?

Just bought myself the same chair, same problem with wheels, I took it outside and oiled them a little, soon eased up

Bought a blue one of these used today(barely used) for 25£. Its a couple years old but dont seem to been used. A new one is 75£ and are only available in black witch was a "no go" for me. Used it a couple of hrs now and find it plesant. The reason I searched your video up was because of I wanted to know what the "handle" was for. But it seems like it is some kind of tilt-function for the seat when the chair is "locked-mode" instead of free-tilt? The main point I would like to add to your review is that this chair goes higher up than most others. By this my hands get a fair fall down to the keyboard instead of having to reach upwards on it or alternatively buy a table that can be lowered as most tables has a fixed hight. I cant really relate to your leg-problem there, and never had a need for a foot-rest.

I have for five years thought my tilt mechanism was broken, until I after watching this video took a second look. I just had to pull the height adjuster out and then the tilt function was "unlocked." The tilt handle adjusts which force is required for the backrest to tilt. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am sitting on this chair right now. My review? It sucks. The swivel control system it's vilgot's achilles heel.

At least I am not the only person who feels pain in that area (I do not know how you call it, but you know where I mean, the back part of the leg slightly above the knee) when sitting for more than a few tens of minutes. I wish there were chairs with short seat so that part of my leg would not be pressed. Sadly I could not find such chairs.

The castors are designed to NOT roll unless you are sitting in the chair. This makes it a real pain to move it when you're not sitting in it. I replaced my castors with ones which roll even when you are not seated in the chair - like almost every other chair does. The wheels are automatically in a break mode so the chair won't pull away as you start to sit. Then roll better once your full weight in seat
