Love this! I have an exoterra for my Day gecko and I swear my plants have a better home in my terrarium Rudsta cabinet! One small tip I highly recommend: Reverse osmosis water (or filtered water) in your misting/fogging will reduce your water stains on the glass, and your animals/plants will thrive even more without all those hard minerals. You can also potty train your geckos to poop on a tray - mine figured it out after 2 weeks!

I didn’t realize that you housed giant day geckos and a crested gecko together, how do they do together?
@Vivoterra_Design Жыл бұрын
This was just temporary housing for my crested gecko while I redid her vivarium. However they seemed to get along really well, it helped that they were only really overlapped the diurnal and nocturnal schedules by an hour or so so there wasn't very much interaction between the 2 species.

Did you have to add ventilation of some kind, or was there enough with cracks and whatnot in the case already?
@Vivoterra_Design Жыл бұрын
I left some small cracks open at the top but I have a computer fan that turns on a couple of times a day to circulate the air.

@@Vivoterra_Design Oh, that's awesome. It does okay with the humidity and everything? I was also wondering what you did in the bottom to hold in substrate, was it a tray of some kind or did you build something? Trying to come up with some lost cost solutions, I run a gecko rescue out of my home and it's getting expensive with traditional tanks/enclosures.
@Vivoterra_Design Жыл бұрын
@AngryBasic yeah it's great with the humidity. If you watch my initial build I just used the shelves that came with the cabinet to silicone to the bottom and to create the substrate pan.

I'm sorry, I absolutely love your terrarium... but are you keeping crested geckos and day geckos in the same tank? These species should not be kept together. I was really disappointed to see the cohabbing when the rest of your care looks so good.
@Vivoterra_Design Жыл бұрын
It's a temporary situation until my male is big enough to breed, since it's such a large enclosure they all have their own space and separate feeding areas.

Co habing isn't a issue I have 9 species of frogs 23 total and haven't had a issue in the 3 years I've had the set up actually thinking of making a larger one to add fish and aquatic frogs too

@@Stargate-over-starwars cohabitating is a real issue that causes stress and aggressivity to most of the animals in the hobby, most of the species can't be cohabitated due to different needs and also being solitary species, don't do cohab and if you do don't tell people shit like that because a lot of animals end up suffering the consequences of not having any idea about your animals and that they should not cohab. Crested geckos are solitary and cohabitation is absolutely not recommended, they get stressed and may fight.

@@Vivoterra_Design okay, I'm so glad. I'm sorry I assumed that. It wasn't right of me. It's beautiful and I am glad they are all being taken care of so good. I'm about to go bioactive and am realizing more and more how little people know about husbandry. It makes me sad.

How would you heat one of these? I really want to set one up but the heating is really putting me in a hard place as I live in a freezing cold house nearly all year round
@Vivoterra_Design Жыл бұрын
So I used reptile heat pads on the back panel to help maintain the temperature. Also both the uvb and heat emitting led panel that heat the top of the enclosure.

this is just so sad that some people get reptiles and not taking good care of them. like really 3 geckos in the same terrarium and one of them is different breed... you can clearly see that they dont have enough space to live together. it must be so stressful for them. :(
@Vivoterra_Design Жыл бұрын
I really don't know how you can think that I don't take good care of my reptiles. This is a 5 foot tall enclosure that has plenty of room for the geckos. I don't know what you know about day geckos but they are flighty at best. With this enclosure I can leave the door open and never worry about the geckos running because they love it, also a pretty clear sign that they are happy is that they have all gained weight and laid eggs for me since moving into this enclosure.

@@Vivoterra_DesignI will say sharing the enclosure with a crested doesn't seem right to me but the day geckos are whatever.
