In Malaysia... Family ties are very important. We always educate our people how important to have bonding in the family institution. It will make our citizen live happily, tolerant and strong foundation in community.

Family is very important when it comes to Raya (Eid) in Malay culture. During Raya, we normally seek for forgiveness from one another.. especially from our parents and family members. So crucial that we usually dedicate an hour in the morning of the 1st day of Eid to ask for forgiveness from our family members in the most sincere way possible..this whole process normally will be very emotional as it involves exchange of emotions and tears. Its a time for us to forgive and forget and strengthen our relationships. As such, in this video the guy is having regrets and remorse for not being able to do that with his mother, no matter what the feeling or past experience..family is always family. And its also a custom to visit the grave of our loved ones during Eid. P/s: I too, miss my beloved Mom who passed away few years ago.

This kind of parents do exist in this world. They do love their child, but not showing it physically. This ads is from 'Elrah' - a malay traditional clothing brand. And this is based on a true story told by El-Azman (founder of Elrah) himself.

@afnanfaris8071 for myself and a lot of people I know, 'orang' is used like a pet-name with someone we have very close affection to, such as parents and close family members, regardless of situation. Which makes this story even more heartbreaking. Helmi used 'orang' with his mother, showing that he is so affectionate at heart, despite his outwards demeanour. Anak manja. Most probably, the wrongdoings he did was to get his mother's attention. We saw that his mother didn't even show any reaction on the good things he did, and he had to clamour and compete for attention with other brothers.

This has resulted in some emptiness in their children's life and soul. To me, if you love your children, make them know it and educate them how to love you in return. I actually feel pity to this main character because he never feel loved and appreciated by his own mother and the entire family. Though this probably had made him tough, but it had made him emotionally handicapped and unsettled too. Unless, he and his mother could have a heart to heart dialogue and the mother could undo all the negative emotions felt by her son and they could reconcile and feel the love .... But this didn't happen in this story and he has to carry these heavy feelings entire of his life.

The behavior of that 'Mom' - hitting her son with a rattan stick, without checking for facts, is not the general behavior of Mothers in the Malay culture. Most mothers are quite the contrary i.e very protective of their children.

You did not understand the dialogue because Google does direct translation. This guy spoke in jargon. He refers to himself as "orang" which means "people". If you substitute the word "people" and "they" with the word " I" , then you would understand. His mother did not express her love for him just to toughen him up, because he is the youngest and probably spoiled and further more he has no farther to discipline him. 😢 In Islam, heaven lies beneath the mother's feet. No mother ever hates her child. Eid is a time to strengthen our love for both parents and for all ummah.

This is how I feel about this story. I'm guessing at his early life he likes to steal something from the villagers so him. So I think his mom being too strict on him so that he changed his behavior. The scene where he was appointed as a school prefect (disciplinary supervisor) seemed to take place after few months, meaning his behaviour had improved and changed. Yet maybe his mother either have ego or was embarrassed to suddenly changed her approach towards him that she decided to kept their relationship that way till she passed away. ------ While I do agree that this kind of relationship may be backfired, sometimes at the same time it will also changed a child's way of life. Hence like in this based on true story, the son had changed his way of life and become successful. But again, this kind of manner shouldn't be practiced tho especially if we know it will do more harm than good.

Hi Clevy, it's me again :) Raya means Big refers to Hari Raya means Big Day = Great Day = Holly Day. There are two Holly Days in Islam: eid al fitr & eid al Adha. In Malaysia eid al fitr often pronounced with HARI RAYA AIDIL FITRI and the other one HARI RAYA AIDIL ADHA. Same pronouncing here in Indonesia, even we have a little bit differen at language but still mostly we can understand each others. if you like Ramadan and Raya short movie themed, Malaysia is the right place to hunt. They are really good at making it. I love their Raya Movie. Selamat Berpuasa dan menyambut Hari Raya untuk saudara2ku di Indonesia dan malaysia dan juga seluruh dunia (bila mereka boleh faham cakap kita kan? hehe)
