I absolutely loved Ikoria, what a great set for the commander players. Lutri was obviously broken in commander, and the ozolith and rielle are both seriously strong cards, but otherwise a lot of really cool stuff that put the d into edh

Very common for ikoria as the rare cycle is mostly made up of triomes, mythos, ultimatums, and companions.

why's it matter what the cards are worth if NFG is the outlook for price of what's in the boxes? just a quicker time/faster maturation thing? do sets that have chase rares rather than chase mythics shoot up in price more quickly for one reason or another? I'm just starting to get into (the idea of, for now) investing in these things and I was just wondering. btw love this set so much

As a long time collector/player I suggest you keep at least once box of each sealed. You may quit magic later. Keep those boxes though. If you sell your cards, keep at least a few of your favorites, and your firsts. I've quit and sold numerous times, and always regretted it only a few years down the road. Ahhh the things I would have now ...

I started getting Rudy’s videos in my recommended and it got me interesting since Magic was the only thing I could find on shelves at the time. I just play commander and buy vintage. they are not OG triomes. shards existed earlier; however, the cycle mechanic is what makes it very special. they're not going to reprint another "cycle" triome; because "cycle" is an ikoria mechanic.

Luris was the stupid powerful one, but Lutri was the companion that was banned before release in commander specifically because of it's companion clause being that all the cards in deck have to have different names, so it was a literal auto include in *every single deck with blue and red in the colors* with 0 draw back for playing, not even a slot in your deck

You described perfectly why I dropped Arena after about a month. Like deckbuilding and stuff was fun and sometimes you'd get a decent match, but most of the time you're just grinding out matches against faceless people using basically the same deck. And there decks where it's not fun to win against any more than it is to lose against most of the time.... In addition to repeat decks, I also never thought I'd miss people so much, but taking the social out of magic and replacing it with micro transactions makes the game awful for me.

Because Arena is cheaper than paper, I play it. Plus most of my friends have stopped paper Magic. Thus I play to satisfy that ich but I hate the client compared to paper Magic (0 meaningful interaction).

i was right about the triomes back when everyone was saying they were "shit". getting angry commenters telling me i was wrong. even rudy said that triomes were nothing special. i proved everyone wrong. want another potential sleeper? the uncommon crystals; indatha crystal, savai crystal etc. those uncommons, are an excellent substitution for any triome. im not going to argue with anyone. which is why each crystal is currently at least a $1. you don't find many uncommon that are that high in value. most stuff is 10-15 cents if that . maybe half of that for an umcommon. just watch. triomes will be super expensive; and people will gravitate towards it's cheaper counterpart ; which by the way ALSO HAS CYCLE. yes don't forger; those crystals have a cycle mechanic. when you finally think and realize what im saying; you will understand.
