Art 12:00 you have the battery bank, made up of 2 Volt DC cells. Each shelf row is a bank. Each row is 38 Volt DC, and 3 rows together give 114 volts DC (Nominal 110v DC)

I love the idea of these tunnels, I'm from east London and know of a few hidden tunnels, one in particular is where they made electronic components. Just under the north circular. Brilliant stuff. ✌️👍

At 11:30 the green box with the instated posts on it is an oil bath capacitor for voltage smoothing.

A boroscope would have been useful. For seeing what is on the other side of those brick walls.

Even the old stuff stays for long as it is dry. Add moisture and corrosion goes wild.

This place seems very well preserved. Those guages are never intact. The batteries and other electrical stuff looks as it it would work with some maintenance. Is this just open to anyone?
@dannyawxs2 жыл бұрын
This was taken in 2017, I saw some recent videos of this tunnel where the batteries were smashed to bits and the gauges were taken off. I think it's now sealed completely to this day.

Just to add the electrical cabinet on the left would have likely enclosed a very large glass vacuum tube that I believe controlled High voltage DC current output.

To answer some of your questions on the dates that you're seeing written down on the walls permanent markers were not invented until around 19:52 which is ironic I suppose when you're seeing 1948 in permanent marker lol

Looks to me like whoever owns it discovered the copper thief's were inside and put a holt to what was going on, when the thief's were not inside by blocking up the entrances.

The scale of that bunker system is incredible! With the demolition and redevelopment of Longbridge in the past several years is that all gone now? If so great to have it documented before it was all lost.

If they stored munitions they more than likely sectioned off areas with mud to prevent chain reactions in emergency situations etc...
@weedfreer2 жыл бұрын
did you see the bricked up wall the other side of the deeper bit of water towards the end? Anyone notice that there were some bricks removed from the top of it also? Possibly more to it further though 👍

Drainage seems too be a real problem I'm sure it was in the 1940s how did they drain the passageways may be pumped.

It makes me chuckle that every large electric motor you come upon the first thing out of your mouth is to call it a "Generator".
