Rivers people are the worst victim of Hausa-Fulani tactic of divide and conquer. Most people are unaware that Divide and Rule was the original objective behind initial creation of States in Nigeria. Rivers people were carved out of Eastern region, given a special identity, made to feel special, and empowered to isolate themselves from Igbos. Then, they became powerless in isolation, and their petroleum resource was easily siphoned from them, and divided up. Every development in the North, including Abuja, is largely from the Resource wealth of Rivers State. When we were in the University, Northern students received bursaries and other financial support from their State Governments. But students from Rivers State and other parts of Nigeria did not receive grants from their State Government. Meanwhile, this financial support for Northern students came mostly from oil wealth of Rivers State!

Pls ask questions about how many market days & their names. What is the general Igbo name for a daily market e.g. Ogwumabiri as in Imo/Abia & even in Opobo/Bonny. What do the Ikwerre peoplee call hat or cap. What is the Ikwerre name for toilet. How many wrappers do their woment tie for outings, their dance steps. Do they have New Yam Festivals & what Traditional Rites do they perform on such occassions. Recreational activities like Mgba, Ekpe, Nmawu etc, what's their place in Ikwerre culture. What are the roles of Umuada in dispute resolution, In the same respect, what are the roles of one's maternal relations on issues relating to marriage, burial rites etc. What of Age Grades & their relevance in Ikwerre culture. What does the Bini history say about the claim of some Ikwerre to Bini heritage. Why don't they speak Bini or any of its derivatives. In summary, you should ask broader questions that coild have more convincing & enlightenment effect on both the interviewer & the interviewee.

It's well, the only thing in life that has no solution is death, People should learn to be themselves with their own people, I see little lies in the mouth of the Elder Traditional Man, because they're in River's state and for them mingling with other tribes makes to claim not Igbo's, rather Ikwerre, time shall tell, they speak same and share everything with Igbo's, but they choose to pretend. I haven't seen a Yoruba Man from Kwara or kogi state like Dino melaya of kogi and Saraki of Kwara state all in northern part of Nigeria, but still proud of their tribe and culture, Yoruba.. But these people in the river's state most of them claim to be whatever land
@HardCoreAfrican Жыл бұрын
There's no lie there. He's not very well informed and that's why he said when next he comes around,he probably might meet some others who'd help inform him the more. When he was talking about the igbo market days,he said they have only 2,Afor Ukwu and Afor Nta plus a daily market. Most communities have all the 4 market days but not all the villages inside that community have all the 4. He failed to explain it better. My community has 21 villages. My own village has Afor market, our neighbouring villages have Nkwo,Eke and Orie markets. Our ancestors designed it in such a way that we would be opening in turns,which also helps in interactions with our other siblings. Till date,as big as we're,we still dont have a daily market,though we're now discussing building one. In all,Igbos wherever they are,regardless of dialect are one. Politics,segregation and marginalization aside. The elders and kings should as a matter of urgency,do something to bring us all together. Udo.
@OFCnmezi Жыл бұрын
@@HardCoreAfrican Thanks for this explanation. I understood exactly that too. Igbo has 4 market days which occur as ukwu and nta hence making eight. Hence the adage, "Ụbọchị dị anọ zuo asatọ". Also, he mentioned Isoma. It is an Igbo ethic group who speak exactly the way he is speaking. The interviewer is also Isoma but I don't know why he is pronouncing it wrong and acting like it is strange to him. 😂 He is an Mbaitolu man. Most Isoma are found in the Imo political territory.

Africans should go back to the blueprint of originality. Boundaries do not determine the end of communities, tribes or groups. Look at Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, south Africa, Angola etc are all territories of ancient Congo and Zululand. Empires divided against it's interest can not progress. Cities as widely believed as relatively Boundaries are mere geopolitical/economical zones which sprang from various ancient communal village squares, market squares, shrines etc where European missionaries or traders were normally given to settle during their stay.
