When belly landing, glide. Turn off your engine. A spinning prop hitting the ground ( ground strike) ruins the engine by bending or breaking the crank shaft. England needs those airframes or failing that, as much as they can salvage from a downed craft.

Immersion breaking result from Il-2 CoD there. Any collision between a Spitfire and a Bf 110 that completely rips off the Bf 110's wing should render the Spitfire completely unflyable, as the Bf 110's airframe is thicker and stronger than the Spitfire's. That flight should have ended with a bail out.

You got very lucky. Also, I just watched your video on WWI vs. WWII combat. Your Hurricane had the same problems the Me 262 pilots had, when they first got into combat. Very fast vs. very slow.

0:11 you wouldnt have been sheltering (from the sun ) under your wing. Late summer 1940 was settled and fine but with a fresh NW wind and temp only the high 50s F. Source, my late dad who was 11 at the time!

One of the few things wrong with IL-2 is the ability of 110 and Stuka rear gunners to hit you when their pilots were chucking their planes about, imagine lugging a hand held and very heavy MG in +G/-G and then imagine trying to lead a nimble target while doing so! I found tackling anything with a rear gunner to be far more dangerous than anything without, including fighters and this is obviously an inversion of reality.

Yeah, AI gunnery seems very hard to get right. Either completely useless or way to dangerous. Be it bomber gunners or ground fire.

Taff can i ask , do you use head tracking ? or hat switch ? i have this game also and id really love to get the most out of it , i have a stick and throttle its a thrustmaster hotas 4 and it works fine its just the visual side i cant get right ie looking left , right etc as i have it set to snap left and right and its a real pain , wish they would hurry up with vr in this game as this would make it truly fantastic !!!! many thanks ...Shaun.

I think the 110 in this game are all flown by the worlds greatest pilots. The way the 110 flies and fights in the game doesn't seem to match what I've read from Battle of Britain descriptions.
