Taff not sure if you’ve got control of these missions but watching night flights is basically like watching a black screen. Hard to follow which is a shame because the mozzy would be a great career to follow

I watch exclusively on my phone because I have no other option at the moment. I'd love to be able to see these missions. Even at highest resolution they are super dark. I wind up putting these night videos on to fall asleep to. Haven't actually watched a night episode.

If you watch on a computer Night Video Tuner is a good browser add-on. When you boost brightness 300% you can actually make out something. Still dark and blotchy, though.

I find that if you are watching the night missions in the evening, turn your room light out and watch it in the dark and you will be able to see better; it also adds to the immersion too, almost as if you're in the cockpit with Eddie and Jacques.

GDW's 'Overlord Campaign' 1990's; 1)April, gather Naval forces for invasion. 2)May, Blow up France. As long as you and Jacques stick to rule 2, I'll keep watching. I may be a goof, but I like night ops. Simply showing up and disturbing Jerry's sleep.

Absolutely excellent episode taff, I do understand what you mean with the night operations, but in all honesty those are actually the safest and forgiving of the tasks given, there's no enemy night fighters around so all you have is enemy AAA and searchlights to deal with and in pitch darkness.. you've got cover and protection. Broad daylight operations are excellent though, that is my medium so obviously I'll say I prefer day operations also. You got your tactics and management of your Mosquito operations absolutely perfect, you got two beautiful well earned FW190 victories and you made your get away before others showed up. Jaques might take a few flights to settle in with the routine but.. he'll get there like Sebastian did. Eddie James comes home safe and adds more victories to the belt, the squadron is glowing with great results. Great episode, looking forward to the next one, well done taff.. Happy hunting, great work 👍

Those night time missions a bit like Path Finder missions, to set afire the target for the heavy bombers that would come later. Although you didn't have any incendiary bombs.

These night time rhubarbs seem to be mostly just disturbing the German's sleep, although you manage to pick off the occasional searchlight. Since you don't fly with a wingman in daylight to watch your tail, your tactics of ambushing the occasional single or pair while avoiding groups is very smart. Jack (Jacque ?) approves! Those two 190s were carrying bombs on a fighter-bomber mission. So, you have the satisfaction of probably saving the lives of some unknown sods! I'm looking forward to when you do some close air support missions after the invasion. That will probably involve bombs and rockets + the Mossy's formidable guns. Good stuff!!!

Given the number of searchlights you've destroyed, either your peers will nickname you the "Lamp destroyer" or just the "Moth". ^^

The only good thing about the night missions. Is that when you do get the light it looks cool. I’m surprised on ya free hunts. You don’t go looking at the airfields & strafe them. Also take a cpl of bombs & take out shipping, trains & if near the front line tanks.

thaose were some nice mission, the night ones were really dark but then I really gives a sense of what the pilots might have been dealing with in real missions as well, so thank you for sharing the experience with us. Thank you Taff, see you in the net video

Well done, Taff! That first 190 pilot was dead before he hit the ground, shot in the back of the head. On the second one, a nice deflection shot to remove his port-side stabiliser. He stood no chance after that and didn't you smell bacon as the pilot was done to a crisp? The Mossie is a beautiful aircraft, but it seems to be a tricky one to land. You need to bleed her speed off as much as you can; you seemed to come in a bit hot on your final approach and you overshot a bit. One question before I go: does that windscreen wiper on the front actually work? It might help if you're flying through cloud. Just a thought you might like to explore.
@EggnogTheNog Жыл бұрын
I suspect the wiper only really works on the ground. Useful for taxiing, but once you’re airborne, the airflow over the canopy is probably more effective.

I do like the Mosquito missions, and I don't mind the darkness -- although I do like the daylight patrols better. Are you allowed to add a couple of bombs and look for ground targets of opportunity? Or is that just too dangerous?

Is the Mosquito paid DLC or part of the base game?
@papasmurfette007 Жыл бұрын
Seems a weird strategy (of the game) to hit the airfield one aircraft at a time. If they were to hit all at once, or at least in twos or threes, it would split up the searchlights and the flak...
@timonsolus Жыл бұрын
Flying at night is hard. Flying at night in formation is extremely hard, the risk of mid-air collision becomes extreme. Better to fly alone than risk a mid-air collision with one of your squadron mates.
@colindouglas7769 Жыл бұрын
@papasmurfette007: My grandfather's next door neighbour flew the Mosquito in WW2 and he did a lot of this stuff leading up to D-Day. They always flew on their own on these missions. It's always easier to do that on these precision "nuisance" raids. When flying at tree top height, as most of them were, they have enough to think about looking for power lines etc without have the added distraction of avoiding other aircraft in the squadron and when you are dodging searchlight cones, you are very likely to collide with another aircraft doing the same. Flying alone at least cuts out that danger. You could say: have one guy flying higher to draw the flak and searchlights etc while the other one conducts his bomb run, but who is going to volunteer to be that "patsy" to be shot at, and more than likely shot down in flames? Do you really think that's a workable solution? I think you've been watching far too many Hollywood war films for your own good!
@papasmurfette007 Жыл бұрын
@@colindouglas7769 It makes sense and I get that, but it does seem like such a huge risk for such little (or no) reward. But then the same could be said about so many war tactics, and sometimes even the wars themselves...

You need to increase the brightness of the night missions before you upload that to KZbin. There's literally nothing to see, it's pointless.

Try putting your room lighting off and watch it like you're in a darkroom or in the cinema: I found that helped a lot and it's extremely immersive.
