IL-2 Great Battles [VR] - First Kill with the P-47D-28 (Bf 109)

So, to support the "strike" against WT, I've decided not to play the game from the 26th of May til the 10th of June, at least. So it's IL-2 time!
Just getting to know the P-47D-28, and its engine management is a bit more complicated than most planes. In addition to the throttle, prop pitch, mixture and radiators, I had to control the turbo rpm and the water injection boost. Man, I love the sound of that turbo!

Awesome! I did the same earlier this week. Got into my first multiplayer dogfights in IL-2, prompted by the WT boycott. (Spitfire engine management is a bit easier though ...!)

Thanks man! IL-2 is a great game. The P-47 engine management is a bit more complicated, but the Spit isn't the easiest either, I mean in a 109 you basically just have the throttle to manage :)

Nice one, this plane frightens me because the turbocharger operation seems complicated. Do you use it fully manually or can it be set on auto? And who is this wounded guy? I hear him all the time too. Is he behind the seat?

Yeah always wondered about that wounded guy... Probably a stowaway, there is certainly enough space in the Jug's belly :) I loved managing (and hearing) that turbo, it needs an additionnal axis to control the turbo rpm, and a switch to enable the water injection (only 5 min of that). @@ATC83 I have the turbo set up on an axis and had a dabble with it. I remember some linking involved where the turbo can be linked to the throttle or something like that. Need to brush up on it, one of the more complex engine management setups. Will have a look at the vid in your link.

Thanks! Just getting to know it, but yeah it clearly is a high alt beast, not really designed to dogfight down low... (or dogfight at all as far as I'm concerned lol)
