IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Kuban - Join the Fight!

The third installment of the next-gen IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles series is dedicated to large scale aerial battles between the Red Air Force and the Luftwaffe in the skies over the Kuban front in 1943. Fly and fight over the beautiful and varied scenery of the Caucasian region of the Soviet Union including mountains, farmland, estuaries, ports and beautiful beaches.
IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Kuban can be used as a separate product or be integrated with Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow or Battle of Bodenplatte, resulting in one big WWII combat flight-sim featuring the Eastern and Western Fronts.
Note: On Steam, customers must first purchase Battle of Stalingrad if they wish to purchase Battle of Kuban.
Several modes of gameplay are available such as Quick Mission Builder, Custom Single Missions, Scripted Campaigns and Pilot Career. Dogfight, Cooperative and Dedicated Server options are also included for multiplayer. There is something for everyone no matter what kind of gameplay you enjoy.

@@Vovantro , ни в коем разе. Сам являюсь пользователем этой игры. Я ожидал от неё большего. Сейчас даже практически и не играю в неё, поскольку нет своей атмосферы, ничем не цепляет. Да, самолёты вполне на уровне, хотя детализация всё ещё хромает, надо бы всё в 4К посмотреть ,но не знаю, как это работает. В настройках игры есть кнопка 4К - но в каких самолётах она включает текстуры 4К - я не знаю. А что касаемо обстановки игры - Земли - это убожество. Сплошное мыло. Уж на взлётной-то полосе могли бы сделать нормальные текстуры песка, а не убитое мыло. Так же убоги и деревья. Походу ,у них только 4 модели этих деревьев. И когда смтришь сверху - тайлинг просто сплошной, как шашки. Всё одинаковое... Да и масштабы странные. Вот упал бомбер Хеншель в лесу и он смотрится на фоне дерев максимум метровой конструкцией, у комля лежит и не выше. Хотя даже не надо залезать в справочники ,чтобы понимать ,что кабина Хеншеля никак не может быть меньше 3 метров в высоту... Да блин ,возьмите самую примитивную по размерам игру (всего-то около 700 мб) Спидраннер Мудраннер (Спинтайрес) - про тягачи в грязи - и там природа выглядит на порядок круче. Берёзки - закачаешься, какой красоты. И это, сцуко, блять, реализовано на 700 мб размера игры!!! Но в Ил-2 - это какое-то УБОЖЕСТВО. А ведь графон должен быть уже на уровне Батлфилд 5 или Колл оф Дьюти. Да в Тундре визуально картинка лучше.

I don't regret buying Sturmovik. It flies really nice and feel great when dogfighting. 1C game should really work on explosions though. Ground explosions (bombs, aircraft crash) looks really cartoonish.

They do have the P47, in two variants- the D-28 and D-22. They also have the historical Brazilian skin for the D-28. They also have the P-40, the A-20, and currently an AI B-25, hopefully to get the playable B-25 in the future.

God, I wonder how the Hs129 is gonna feel like flying. Back in 46 it genuinely feel like flying a 50 ton brick. You gotta get your prop rpm settings right or it will just slowly glide to the ground. And that's without carrying the bomb payload.

@@HHPauk гарнитуру имеешь ввиду? sony mdr-какая-то там, нормальная короче. Просто к слову у большинства гораздо хуже, не покупать же им другую гарнитуру? Очень уж сильно раздражает шипение при выстрелах, там допустим где зенитки, или где бомбы взрываются. Ощущение что частоты просто задраны вверх до упора. Может конечно игра сама так воспроизводит - давно уже не гамал, а может это после наложения музыки поверх.

1:09 rate of fire of those 88? seems like too much (look closer at the 2nd gun from the left, hes shooting again just when it cuts, so its shooting 1 round every 2 seconds (30 rounds/min), also they all have smoke when the shot starts so the have shooted previously to the clip and the smoke stays for one second.)

I really enjoy the new planes in BoR, but the map is one of the worst I've ever seen. It looks like a superposition of 1) adapted satellite scenery (which is fine except stains here and there), 2) roads and rivers that are not aligned and cut whatever satellite scenery lays below, most of the time accompanied with trees in the middle of fields or secondary roads (that look much broader than main roads, btw) 3) airfields that also cut whatever was below, even roads. It's simple, I can't fly missions without being distracted at the poor state of this map. Is it WIP or to be considered final state? The previous maps were quite good, especially in Battle of Kuban that we see here.

IL-2 BOX HOTAS setup screen is very frustrating indeed! Mostly because of the lack of feedback from the system i.e. you never know what functions you bound to wich buttons or switches because the system doesn´t tell you. Why don´t they simply copy the DCS input setup method? It would make life so much easier and the game way more accessible!

"Arcade style" is an exaggeration, IMO. You may be mixing this up with the earlier version: IL-2 1946? Or even WT? I mean, DCS World indeed has a bit more realistic flight model than IL-2 BOS, but mostly only noticeable on takeoff/landings. OTOH, BOS has a much better damage model than DCS, and better multiplayer performance. I enjoy both.

I mean, it *can* be played like an arcade game. There's loads of accessibility options to turn on for those who want, and the game does play perfectly fine with a mouse and keyboard, if that's your preference. There's nothing wrong with recommending it as an arcade game, but that's not all there is to it. To me, it's an accessible, and fairly straightforward simulator, with a focus on great combat rather than management of fancy systems. It doesn't have as pretty, nor clickable cockpits as DCS, but it's also far cheaper. There's no complex startup sequences to learn, and the general flight characteristics are a bit less temperamental as well.

The flight sim genre and community are very niche. Sure they can sell you the entire sim for cheap (say $30), but don't expect them to be in the business for long.

It's all about how many people is interested. If they could sell a million copies like the old IL-2 did back then it would be much cheaper. But since nowadays nowhere near the amount of people is into flight sims they have to charge more otherwise it wouldn't be profitable enough to keep going.

@@Darrylx444 Well yeah, it's a game what's been out for some 10 years now. The hill that I'm dying on is this: The main game is $50. With that you have some 8 aircraft to play as. In the quickplay mode, your opponent can have any of the aircraft the 1C has made (don't you want to buy them too?). Scripted campaigns are all expansions and are shown in the game menu. Oops, gotta buy those to play them. Career mode All Aircraft are shown to you even though you can't actually use the ones you haven't purchased. Just a nice incentive there. TO BE FAIR, you can uncheck the aircraft you don't have when selecting a regiment to play as. Multiplayer. There's no in house Co-Op(?) You have to download or create third-party/your own campaigns to play with friends otherwise it's just dogfights for days. [Developers are looking into this if the Steam Reviews page is accurate.] In IL-2 (1946) There's: 1. No DLC Cause technically 1946 is the big DLC 2. In house scripted missions readily available 3. You can play the single-player campaigns with ya friends from the get go.
