I so agree with you , Musicdok ! There are pavarottis, domingos etc, household names - and then there are onceinalifetimevoices like Bruce Ford's 💥 His Mitridate for example is fenomenal. A conundrum indeed, his non-worldwide fame !

Alas, John McCormick convinced folks this was a bit of a "love song" rather than a character promising retribution and thus, the more "weighty" passages as sculpted by this voice, will find some listeners claiming Ford has it all wrong, that his voice is "too big", that he isn't a "Mozartian tenor" etc. He may not be a Mozartian, as he can sing anything he has the sheet music for...one of the voices of the past and current century and the fact that he is/was lesser known (to me) is completely befuddling.
