I just did my first Hartmann manouver in Il2 online and it worked. I'm new to MP and still dont consider to have any kills (I shot 1 guy down but he was being chaased by other 6 planes and already crippled so it wasn't a fight), was on the bodenplatte map and got in an area with about 5 planes dogfighting, I tried to chase one but quickly lost him (very usual thing for me) and then saw some explosions and everything was quiet, I pointed my nose to the frontline and all the sudden tracers pass by. I was flying a D9 and the chaser was a spitfire anyway I first did some normal rolling out of instinct, kinda worked, then I remembered this video and tried to do the manouver but got confused with the hand-feet coordination cause of the adrenaline and hit the wrong pedal, doing a normal spin, quickly realising my mistake I looked back and waited until he was right on my six. And it happened. A perfectly executed manouver, I trained this before and usually lost control trying to stay level again, but not this time, one roll and nose front, with the enemy passing on my left. My heart started racing (still is as I write this), he rolled right and left, did half loops, but I was able to stay on his 6, I never did that, usually the guy out-turns me or is just faster. because of the nervousness I missed every damn shot lol. But it was so close, I got several shots out, all with good angle, just poor aiming. Seconds later a guy came and got him (hitting me in the process), but I didn't care much, I might still have 0 kills but this was the first time I proved to myself that I can dogfight and actually kill other players. I won't forget it soon, thanks for this video

First time I’ve ever seen the Hartmann manoeuver. Supposedly the real life version is a guaranteed red-out and the plane is likely to go into a spin, but it beats getting filled with .50 cal bullets.

It was documented in a book in German "Holt Hartmann vom Himmel" I remember reading in the 1970s. First used by Hartmann in 1944.

More il2 with English subtitles! I’m learning Deutsch at the moment and it’s good practice eventually I fully plan to practice by watching German gameplay. Greetings from USA!

The Hartman maneuver starts by break turn, when it is not enough and the bandit is trying to pull lead then you do it.

That's how I know it from the Hartmann biography, too. But the actual sequence is correct, even without a curve ;)

Schönes Video, habe seit il2 fb pacific fighters und 1946 nicht mehr gezockt. Habe mir jetzt stalingrad, normandie und bodenplatte geholt. Ich hab noch n trackir 4 hier rumluegen, also auf gehts ;)

Welche map ist das bei 4:15? Mega gut geflogen, fange grade wieder an mit dem Game. Das Hartmann Manöver hat mich früher oft gerettet

Komisch, ich habe alle Bücher über Hartmann gelesen, in Deutsch und Englisch, aber von dieser "Hartmann Manöver" las ich erst jetzt! Ich glaube aber so eine Flugmanöver gelesen zu haben bei der Ami Johnson. Mir fällt sein Vornamen gerade nicht ein. Johnny war es nicht, das war ein Engländer...

Alter Gibts das Game IL2 Sturmovik mit Server noch ?, Hab hier noch IL2 1946 rumliegen und hab ewig nicht geflogen ......... :). Das Manöver kenne ich nur zu gut :D aber wie du sagtest haubutze nicht immer klappt der Trick :). Hier bei wenn der Gegener mir im Kreuz Sitzt mach ich einen Halben Looping mit drehung um dann in einer Abwärts Schraube den Gegner vor mir zu haben :D. Wie ich sehe habt ihr die G2 bzw G6 genommen zum Trainieren :). Mit der F2 und F4 wäre das noch leichter gegangen.

Zu schade nur, dass der Focke Wulf "Ta 152 H-1" nicht vorher entwickelt wurde, dann wäre der Michi und seine Kameraden unbesiegbar gewesen. Das gleiche gilt für die Horten Brüder...
